  1. Hi mate, I can guarantee you Tamiya's model is wrong, and also those drawings...  I have the NAA blueprints for the "B" model, plus it is quite obvious in ww2 pictures that indeed the ammo panel is smaller, also this relic from a B model,  here is the reference material, also keep in mind B/C models had only 2 machine guns on each  wing that's why the ammo panel were smaller and increased in the D model  to provide more rounds to 3 machine guns, cheers

Really great craftsmanship on the cockpit. Did you fabricate the seat cushion? It looks very realistic.:clap2:

    Jim

thanks Jim,  yes I used magic sculpt  resin, my fav material for this ;), cheers

Very nice scratch, love the cushion too.

thanks  Brett, I sculpt the early style which is more interesting than the later one :D

Yep, for sure this will turn into a splendid looking B model, nice approach you did to get this far.

I've tried this "conversion" with an old Revell B fuselage untill the firewall,  and pasting a Hasegawa D nose onto it, but stalled it a while ago.

Will follow this very closely, great job.

    Jack.

thanks Jack, there is always a risk on these projects, I resuscitated this one after a few years, hope you get back too yours, cheers

some more work on the seat :) cheers

Very nice conversion. I applaud your fearless kit bashing of several good kits to make a good B Mustang. I am assuming you are using the Hobbycraft windscreen and other “clear glass” for the cockpit.

    Jim

thanks Jim, well, originally I was not going to use the hobbycraft parts and save the kit, was going to scratch all the canopy parts making a mold and vacuformed transparents  however  as I have no experience on that took the decision to use the donor kit and build this one quicker, the rear canopy windows also need to be lifted slightly  in position, that's what I did today, now filled with black ciano and sanding and polishing ahead, cheers

Looking good Antonio.  I donated a Hobbycraft kit for this exact purpose to a fellow LSP'er.  The lines on a P-51B are just the Bee's knees.  Following with interest.  Once your -51B is completed Maybe just maybe, we'll see this one come to life!

thanks Troy, I was hoping not to chop the Hobbycraft kit but was the best option if I want to finish this project,   I had to lol,  I agree with you about the "B" lines and curves

    cheers

  6. I'm  resurrecting this project I started a couple of years ago, using the Revell "D"  downgrading into a "B" model.

some 1/32 Mustang kits  on the bench for comparison measures  ^_^

the revell kit is the best  option as a base for this operation, here  without the main D features

You get as much credit for taking this particular plane on as a WIP here as you do for the execution. You parried all the experts' thrusts with aplomb while building an impressive replica. Bravo.

Thanks for your kind words Basta, glad you are liking it, cheers

Really nice job. Interesting to see how the oil streaks are biased towards the starboard side, must have to do with prop wash.

    TRF

thanks  mate,  yes that can be the reason, also the left strut was over pressured because the torque of the prop  made it to suffer more at take off and landing , so it is slightly taller on the left side!

Drop tank has been glued down, early type with metal protector  end, which I should touch up that pointy tip end,  and no monster red stencils, cheers
