Pup7309
Some musings: WNW will be going for a few years yet, but looking at their kit releases (not including re boxes or ‘late’ versions) they seem to have covered most (let’s say 80-85%) of the well known types. ( Minus the Neiuport/ Dr1 and SPADs.) Would you agree? I also did a quick survey. Each boxing seems to be on the market for an average of about 3-5 years, depending on popularity. So eventually they will run out of options, but once again that will be quite a few years down the track... I don’t know whether them having a wider distribution network will speed up the ‘sold out’ factor but maybe they just make more units these days Any thoughts? Pup7309
Ha! But when a kit dies, does another always takes its place? Edited February 9, 2019 by Pup7309 Bill Cross
thierry laurent
There are still dozens of WW1 types to release and many of them are not that obscure. Well, they were less common than Albatros and Camels but not that rare. WnW can still release new topics during at least ten years at the same rate! Chek
An FG1 or FGR2 Phantom would be nice.... Bill Cross, Kagemusha, Tony T and 2 others 4
vince14
There are still plenty of WWI aircraft that are yet to be kitted in 1/32, including well-known types like the BE2 and Halberstadt D.II - and then you need to factor in Peter Jackson's fondness for more obscure types too, as well as the fact that they're hardly short of funding. I think WNW have plenty of years left in them yet. MikeC, Pup7309, TimW and 1 other
LSP_Mike
The rumors of WNW demise are greatly exaggerated..... They could release 3 kits a year for a few years just doing seaplanes. kkarlsen, Bill Cross, CANicoll and 3 others 5
John1
Agreed with all those comments above and FWIW, there is no law that says WNW can only release WW1 subjects. Assuming Sir Peter finally exhausts his list of WW1 subjects, why would anyone think he'd then simply pull the plug on WNW? LSP_Mike
His is the only IM company to step into the 1920s with 1/32 plane kits. Since WNW has become the benchmark for 1/32, I can think of many aircraft I'd like to see by them. The Wright Flyer would be at the top, along with the Spirit of St. Louis. AlanG
God i hope they aren't. Just imagine the meltdown the forums on all sites that would have people having to resort to buying cheaper and obviously more inferior kits. Oh the travesty! And if you cannot tell..... that was firmly tongue in cheek Pup7309, Rick Griewski, MikeMaben and 3 others 1
Sabre F-86
I wouldn't be surprised to find them moving on past WWI into the 20s and 30s. Can you imagine the quality of a WNW Boeing P-26? There's a pretty good list of USN aircraft from that period which might draw significant interest. Pup7309, David66, MikeC and 2 others
Wegener
Didn’t I see something about a Lancaster bomber too? Doesn’t seem to be any bar to Wingnut making models from periods other than WW1 to me.... And as pointed out, there is still scope for other WW1 types, such as the BE2c. I rewatched the BBC series ‘Wings’ on YouTube recently. Fine stuff, in which the BE2 features prominently. Pup7309
ringleheim
Rather than hope WNW does kit X for the next 20 years or so, wouldn't it be nice if a bunch of other, new competitors came into the hobby and made kits as well as WNW? I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the landscape of aircraft model kits is pretty lame. Military/Armor model builders have it a LOT better. Yeah, there isn't anyone else releasing high quality WW1 aircraft. Such a disappointment. And when is anyone ever finally going to do a French aircraft? http://www.copperstatemodels.com/main/productsCS/1/2 Pup7309
Rick Griewski
I would miss the surprises! And truely be honest now, how many of us are even close to keeping our build rate up to the rate of WNW kit release. Raise your glass to WNW; long live WNW (and stop all the hand wringing).
