EvilCarrot Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Somebody already put it on Scalemates. I'd love one of these but the cost of importing from the UK will probably put this out of my price range... Still it's a great project! Will wait and see. Martinnfb, airscale and Palm-tree 3
Out2gtcha Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Having grand memories of my pops really loving the BPD and only having a balsa and tissue model to represent it in a large scale model. IIRC,I think it may have been walnut scale or larger....... In any event a new tool BPD is most welcome and this one may have to be a must have. Martinnfb, williamj, airscale and 1 other 4

airscale Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 well thanks you all - that is really quite a reception I will do everything I can to make it happen - rest assured 5 hours ago, JayW said: - What will you do to the LG struts to make them robust enough? Is that not a problem at 1/32 as well as 1/18? You got me there Jay, but I have a cunning plan from the professor of cunning at cunning university for that 2 hours ago, thierry laurent said: Wow ! That turret is incredible!!! 👏 1/18th is impressive but this will ask ages to print parts. 1/32th would be probably more attractive and you can also consider 1/24th to go with the existing Spitfires, Hurricane, Mosquito and Typhoons. Thanks Thierry - it is in 1/32 so that's the first problem solved 2 hours ago, europapete said: Print and scale to order? Interesting, that is of course possible and a 1/24 one would be.... well.... epic back to the gear bays for me... Peter viper, Bill M., Derek B and 8 others 10 1

Alex Posted January 5 Posted January 5 13 hours ago, airscale said: Print time - All the parts for now are printed at the lowest, but fastest quality @ 60 micron layers, I usually print in 22 microns for my AM parts - but this speeds up the prints - even then, on 60 microns it takes about 9 hours to do the wing parts so each kit will take days to print at the proper resolution Wow - that's an amazing and ambitious project. The prototype is impressively advanced if you've only been working for a month! Regarding print time (especially in light of the likely demand for this kit), I wonder if it wouldn't be better to complete the prototyping and 3D design on your personal printer and then find an commercial shop with higher-end equipment to produce the parts in volume at high resolution? I'll bet you could get an Eduard or ResKit interested in collaborating on something like this. airscale and williamj 2
mozart Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) I’ll be building a Defiant for sure, but I’m utterly undecided whether to go for the classic day fighter scheme during the brief halcyon days in early 1940: …..the night fighter….. ….or even a target tug….. More research will be needed, that’s a certainty. Edited January 5 by mozart Out2gtcha, Shoggz, monthebiff and 4 others 7
