The best thing about this medium is ... for the most part it can be made to order.

With IM you need to have a fairly large numbered production run for the medium to be efficient enough to be profitable.

But with this? ... Cost of materials + hours of production on a machine. No 500+ kits sitting on a shelf somewhere waiting to be sold.

OK ... so there's a little mass production quotient in there - the decals, photo etch (if any) and instructions may have to be done in batches.

Definitely Master brass for those Brownings.

@airscale Peter with regards to the canopy, is this something you could partner with Ali at Aerocraft for? His current clear resin products are excellent and a 3DP master would probably work as long as it has the casting lines polished out.

thanks everyone, how encouraging :)

I'll bet you could get an Eduard or ResKit interested in collaborating on something like this.

Indeed, I have had some interest from commercial ventures and might look to collaborate :)

I’ll be building a Defiant for sure, but I’m utterly undecided whether to go for the classic day fighter scheme during the brief halcyon days in early 1940:

More research will be needed, that’s a certainty.

Indeed Max, I want both versions in the kit and we have spoken about that research :) Also have literally the world's best digital artist, a good friend of mine lined up to help with the box art :)

When can I order?  😇

Unknown Iain - I have lots to sort out before I would allow that, not least of which are the transparencies - but I think I may have options there

I thought that too Rog, but having spent £26 with my trade discount at hannants on a set of 4 I am not convinced - they seem a little underscale to me - plus they add a big cost to the final kit (if it happens...)

Yes, I have spoken to Ali about it and while he could definitely do it, it's a big ask and a lot of work. I would rather IM :)

In other news,  the gear bays are done and the wing surfaces mostly done...

I'm probably alone - but good quality vacs in PETG would be more than adequate IMHO.

Or just the plugs so I can vac my own...  :)

Although I do understand that many are wary of vacced parts.

I'm very impressed by this project. I want one in 1/32 scale.

Defiants before they were all shot down

Wonderful pics, to fire up the imagination and anticipation.

I'm with your here Iain, some good quality vac parts are perfect for this possible kit but as you say they do put many people off.

Just waiting for a pre-order price Peter, we need this kit in our lives :D

I could be tempted in to purchasing one as its such an interesting aircraft. I’ve never yet worked with 3D Printed stuff despite having some Laminar Flow conversions in the stash. Would normal Tamiya Thin Glue (other brands are available) or Super Glue be the weapon of choice for this project? As for canopies I’ll admit to not being the worlds biggest fan of Vac form but if that’s what was provided then as long as there’s some spares and some clearly defined cut lines it wouldn’t put me off purchasing.
