You are absolutely right, BUT i think many wiill vote with their wallet now and go WNW as its not going to be much dearer
You obviously didn't read my message thoroughly:
Quote....Buy the WNW if that is more to your expectations.

For that much money, not to need aftermarket to fix accuracy and detail. I’ve seen better looking control panels on smaller scale aircraft, the radiators are post-war style (modeled after the BbmF lanc?) and not accurate for wartime aircraft, ton of ejector pin marks in the flap well, my list goes on. A lot of detail looks very toylike to my eyes
But you haven’t bought it, right? So don’t. Buy the WNW if that is more to your expectations.
Modelling seems one hobby where everyone seems to have some sort of high-end expectation. Maybe the WNW release has turned your head whereas it may not have before the kits announce. That’s something I’m seeing so much of. The HK level of detail was never moaned about on the Do 335 etc. yet, this is the same, contemporary style we see from many manufacturers, and on this Lanc.

I personally prefer such video reviews due to the possibility to have a look at kit parts from different angles. As being German, for me there is no need to understand English to follow it (though I do).
I wouldn't have the confidence to do a video. It's rare you even see me in family photos too!

Impressive! What paint colour did you use underneath the wood grain decals?

I suspect it has a lot to do with light reflectivity. The waviness will obviously still be there, but the overall effect of that waviness will be greatly diminished, owing to the lack of light reflection, and this is what I was referring to.
Ah, right. So not actually disappearing, but an illusion? Matt paint would lessen the appearance, but the textures wouldn't be lessened.

As I stated above, much of that rippling effect, will disappear under a few coats of paint.
How?
You're not filling in rivets etc. You're painting a whole surface in an even layer of paint, not puttying it. Painting a Airfix 1/24 Typhoon, and I still never saw any of it disappear.

Apparently, one of his female staff informed him after the fact, that he gave the V-sign the wrong way around, and what this actually meant. He was supposedly quite amused.

I don't like pictures of Hitler; maybe you don't mind.
It's not good that this impinges on an otherwise innocent product. Do you want Hitler on the box top?!
Tony
Where did I imply that I was a fan of Hitler and wanted his image on a box top?
Petulance is never an award-winning debate strategy.

Is there any way the Hitler poster may be removed from this thread? It is very likely most offensive to those who served on Lancasters.
Thanks. I have a sense of humour and understand the irony of Adolf Hitler exclaiming he wasn't expecting the Reich to be pounded into rubble (another take on the meme), but I really thought LSP was a Nazi-free zone.
Cheers

Are we so thin skinned?
My family lost two in Lancs. One on training, one over Germany.
Why do we live with perpetual offence these days?

Very curious why there are a ton of pictures of the fuselage and interior, but almost none of the wings and engines.
They are still being tooled.

B-Wing is the best looking of any of the craft in that universe. Didn't know it was out yet. I guess it fits in this topic, being from the area. Nice.

It was very, very cool. Saw it in the plastic and wanted to take it home.
The new mini Death Star model is amazing too.

There is no B-29 planned.

The only real 1/32 news is Wingnut and HKM. Nothing from Tamiya et al. I spent all day at show yesterday and posted about a hundred photos on Facebook.

Us mere mortals need them James, the gods don't!! :)
I'm pretty cack-handed, but do stuff by rack of eye, and sit the model on bubblewrap in between tasks.
Hell, I even built a 1/32 DH.2 without one!

The group do a great job (I am a software guy so I am not much use). XX894 has been repainted in the exact same markings as the RAF retired her since you photo. The website is www.thebuccaneeraviationgroup.com. We are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the flight of the first prototype on April 28th with 3 Buccaneers performing thunder runs for anyone interested. I can tell you now the sound of 6 RR Spey's going to full power is still amazing!
I'd happily build one in 1/32.
Javelin too if anyone will indulge me.

Tests are done. I've seen the styrene and it looks good.
I would say a few months yet, max. That Lanc is nearing completion.

We will have elements of the Lanc on show at Shizuoka, but not the whole thing. Tooling is expected to be complete two to three weeks after the show.
We're sure you'll like what you see. We should have it on the Japanese distributors stall (Beaver).

Now a sea king in 1/32........ that would be something.
You'd better ask the expert whether it would sell first

It's a very parochial subject with very limited appeal.
...you mean because the Americans never used it? British = parochial?
Very few users, very few color schemes, and not terribly widely known, especially by younger modelers.
True, only SA and UK, but so what? The Brits used it in the RAF and FAA.
No combat history, etc, etc, etc.
So it didn't fight in the first Gulf War? Maybe I dreamt that.
A quick look at Wiki shows it also fought in combat in South African service during the Border Wars.

Yeah, I am actually kind of opposed to this sort of aftermarket product.
You mean opposed to simply buying one for yourself, or opposed to its existence for everyone?
If the latter, then maybe we should shun decals, and only use masks? We should shun weighted wheels and weight them ourselves? We should shun resin cockpit upgrades, and build those details ourselves.
The list could go on and on when it comes to innovation in our hobby.
Do we stay old-skool for everything because it reduces overall building time?
HKM 1/32 Lancaster Kit review
in LSP Discussion
Posted
It wasn't a review. It was a first look, and so far the only one we've really seen. You make your own assessment after I show the plastic. I will also review the WNW kit too, but maybe that will be biased as I received a free kit, eh?
Lack impartiality? Fill your boots...
