  1. Hi all,

This is my HK Models Meteor F.4, converted into a T.7 using the Fisher Models resin set, incorporating the narrow chord intakes that are specific to the majority of T.7 aircraft. I've also added a smattering of Eduard stuff around this build, for landing flaps, seatbelts, wheels and mudguards etc. It's a little worrying when you hack off huge sections of your expensive model kit with a razor saw, but this one built up just beautifully. I've used MRP (Mr Paint) for all colours, such as Sulphur Yellow, Basalt, White Aluminium, Lemon Grey and Syrian AFV Yellow-Brown etc. Also some nice Airscale bezels and decals on the instrument panels. Masks are courtesy of Miracle Masks.

Watch out for this one in the November edition of Military Illustrated Modeller (No.79), due out around mid-October 2017.

  2. Hi all,

This is my recently finished Fokker Dr.I in the colours of August Raben's bird. The decals are Eagle Editions and the paint is MRP. Some use of Aviattic rib tape and fabric decals, as well as some Uschi wood decal. Guns are MASTER, and the prop is from a WNW Fokker D.VII kit. Used ammo chutes are also from the WNW Fokker D.VII kit.

For this build, I used the Roden F.I kit, but used the parts for the production Triplane version. As well as some of the Encore PE extras, I also used stuff from the PART PE set, such as the ammo bins etc. Quite a lot of thinning of the upper cockpit deck and modification to comfortably use the new ammo bins.

Watch out for this build in the next issue of Military Illustrated Modeller, available at all good newsagents and the online store!

  3. Is it so out of the question to ask the forums to make it so you just just upload from your computer?

    Model ship world does it.

I am admin on Model Ship World. We have real time monitoring of the forum with regard to malicious code injection via uploads etc. It isn't cheap, but if anything looks amiss, it's dealt with at source and removed. We also operate through a proxy firewall. We are as confident as we can that allowing our 29,000 members to upload their build logs, won't cause any harm. The same system is operated at Large Scale Modeller, as they are co-hosted, and under the same security package, with the same allowances.

  4. Nice build and finish. Not a criticism of your work, but, like Smitty44's, the propeller looks bent backwards, and that troubles your humble servant ...

    Hubert

I agree! I don't think it looks as bad when you see it. Maybe the silver isn't helping, but yes, it does look odd.

  5. While I don't take any personal offence at the remark, Jim ... It does seem a little condescending and sweeping.

Rog, why should you take any offence at that comment? I'm not even talking about any specific kit's accuracy per sé, or whether the HK is accurate or not, but the many people whose only job in this hobby is to steal someone else's joy, irrespective of the subject or company. Those many folk whose own works tends to stay in the shadows (if they indeed build at all), but like to beat up rivet pitch, slight decal inaccuracies, angle of attack of tailplace etc. These seem to be the ones who try to jump in on new release news or when someone has built something, and urinate all over their work because they think the kit is wrong. I like my kits to be as accurate as the next person, but even if a kit is damned good, there's always some killjoy will pick up on box art etc.

  6.

In other words, be an adult.

I neither required your opinion, nor did I solicit it.

In other words, accept that not everyone has your own viewpoint, and instead of throwing insults, I suggest you employ some maturity.

If you read my post, you'll note that I wasn't saying modellers should put up with something that was wrong. I was merely making an observation.

  7. Hi all,

I thought I'd post some photos of my 1/32 Trumpeter Ju 87A, done in Condor Legion colours. The markings are custom masks, as is the emblem on the spat. The model was built with Eduard extras, and the paints are from MRP (Mr Paint, Slovakia). In all, a trouble-free project. I modded the cowl to correct a couple of anomalies but didn't bother with the lower spat shape. I could live with that.

This model and build article are in the latest edition of Military Illustrated Modeller, which should be in the shops right now.

  8. I never even noticed the inner leading edge issue at all until the Caliper Crew and the Red Line Express got busy.

That seems to be the nature of the hobby these days. Usually those that piss on everybody's chips are those without the ability to have even modelled the thing realistically in the first place, or to show their own abilities. I can think of one retro forum where that is the case.
