came out alright though thankfully :)

Peter

LOL, that's my favorite part of modeling.
😉

In any case, it looks beautiful, so all that hard work was well worth it!

Cheers,

Chuck

Oh man can I relate - I was indeed $hitting myself as I went through the several day process of painting the big Corsair.  And I hated every minute of it.

I have to ask - what problems did you encounter.  Did the tamiya x-22 work out OK for you?  Any paint lifting?   And Peter - that monster looks awesome!

Well that worked beautifully Peter, she looks marvellous!  So pleased the masks were OK! :D

Yes Max, your masks were amazing thank you, the prep time making sure every panel line was cut and taped paid off and there was not one bit of bleed anywhere :)

Hi Jay, yes, the Tamiya X22 worked very well - I found it hard to apply as clear and might tint it next time so I can see where I have been and how thick it is, but it certainly worked great as a primer. Zero paint lifts or even hint of doing so :)

Hi Peter,
I think it looks great, but are you happy with it now the paint is on? Does it still cary its scale authenticity now the metal is covered?
Just curious...

Tony

Interesting question Tony. I am happy actually, I can't photograph it very well, but the finish with pre-shading and wire wool abrasion / washes / salt process looks amazingly realistic in person - really good tones and wear and came out much better than my skills should have allowed, particularly on the upper surfaces. The wire wool '0000 grade' leaves paint dust in all the rivets and panels and is much better than a wash and gives a very scale patina, so yes, more than happy :)

Looks good.

Did you use an etch primer?

Malc.

Hi Malc, no, for the first time I tried Tamiya X22 Clear straight on the aluminium and it worked really well - sticks like $hit to a blanket :)

Want to get her on her wheels then get some glamour shots :)
