Phartycr0c
Dare I say it, but i'm not really a Hurricane fan but just looking at that cockpit it seems Revell have certainly upped their game. Long maty it continue. geedubelyer

quang
Sooo …welcome to the new born 2023. May it bring us all peace, good health and serenity. I know it’s a lot to ask but who knows? Anyhow, the beat goes on. The wings are prepared for assembly. It was customary on the western desert theatre to remove the two outboard MGs and blank off their openings in order to save weight and permit the Hurricane to evade the faster Bf109-F. Ejection slots for the remaining 8 guns are opened. To ensure the correct dihedral and incidence, the assembly between the bottom centre and the wings is rather complicated. As per the instructions, I glued the wheel bay to the bottom plate prior to adding the wings. UNFORTUNATELY IT DOES’NT WORK FOR ME After several trials, I decided to dismantle the wing bottom assembly. Diverting from Revell’s instructions, I glue the centre panel (without the wheel bay) to the wing bottoms first. Wheel bay added Front part added Complete wheel bay in situ Flip view. Note walls added to ejection slots Starboard upper wing added Flip view Mated with fuselage. Insure good fit at the wing root and finally left wing added. Thank you all for looking. Until next time, Cheerio, Quang Edited January 3, 2023 by quang Uncarina, mc65, scvrobeson and 30 others 32

npb748r
Hi Quang, I'm enjoying your build, I'm slightly ahead of you but stalled waiting for seat belts to arrive so hoping you'll jump ahead of me as I like to follow !! I followed the revell instructions on the wing build and had a slight issue at first but realised I hadn't completely removed the remains of plastic where it connected to the sprue - the bit left over was so small I couldn't see it unless I looked hard. Once I had done that everything went together ok for me but it is a really tight fit. Great build, my next one will include some of your additions such as the air hoses in the wheel bay, thanks for the inspiration. neil

This is VITAL with nowadays kits as tolerances are much tighter than we used to. This why a good one-side sprue cutter like DSPIAE is essential. I’ve said it before in some place else and they called me a troll. Guess I better keep on trolling. Cheers, Quang I second that…..the vital necessity for top quality side cutters that is, (been using mine extensively this morning) but not calling Quang a troll! Iain
Great work - and great to see one underway! Had the chance to look over one at the weekend - and was very impressed with this new kit - so many things they've got right, that have been missed in other kits of the subject. Side cutters - agreed. I didn't realise the difference good ones could make until a very kind friend gifted me a set of Tamiya fine nosed cutters - superb. Cheers, Tom Sorry for the late reply Tom but I really did not know when you asked 4 days ago I do NOW Firstly, in order of priorities, the reasons for my choice:, 1- I like birds in desert clothing. 2- I like the Vokes filter which gives a pelican look to every plane which wears it 3- I’m a firm believer of Troy Smith’s motto ‘Don’t trust a profile without a photo’ so I’d like a machine with as many period photographs as possible 4- I like a personalized artwork yet simple so that I can reproduce it with my meager resources …and the winner is: Hurricane Mk.IIb Z5348 - code AX-M - Squadron 1 SAAF- pilot Jerks Mclean- Feb 1942 Of note is the hand-painted code in a peculiar style. We even know what the culprit looked like On my model, the main markings will be airbrushed using home-made masks. Cartoon will be brush-painted. My greatest concern is the serial. I’m planning to use spare decals, unless some generous LSPer with his magical apparatus … Cheers, Quang Edited January 3, 2023 by quang Syntax Alex, Model_Monkey, Paul in Napier and 14 others
