The (then) most powerful non-nuclear bomb in our arsenal being dropped by a helicopter.... Bet old Igor never saw that coming.

It usually wasn’t dropped on enemy troops.  It was usually used to clear (flatten) an area of jungle to build a landing pad or base.

Depending on price, I'll be looking to get one, too. During the summer fire season here (fast approaching now), they base one at our local airport, and it often flies low and directly over our house as it comes in after a day's work. Awesome sight, even more awesome sound!

I was extremely impressed with their performance in Greece this year during the very high heat wave conditions they had this summer, so that is why I want one.

Quite right, but its original purpose as a fuel/air (thermobaric) bomb was to lay waste to minefields, as both the blast and the overpressure would cause sympathetic detonation of the mines regardless of how far down they were planted.

Those prices are pretty staggering.  I realize it’s a physically large aircraft, but it’s mostly just a cockpit pod and two engines and a transmission.

Honestly for any model of that size I don't find that price that unreasonable.

No matter the complexity, any model 31"/77cm long with a 25"/62cm wing/rotor span I would not be surprised to see at $120+ at least.

I cant lie, I will have to have one of these regardless of price.

I find about 95% of Hannant's prices to be staggering.  There is literally almost nothing (including "Xtra" products of theirs) that I can't find cheaper, often **much** cheaper, someplace else.  I honestly don't know why anyone trades with them.

Are you looking at the "UK prices" that include VAT or the "export prices" that don't? I find their export prices pretty comparable to other sellers in the USA. I don't typically buy kits from Hannants because other retailers closer to me can ship a lot cheaper. But I sometimes buy small items (decals, brass, resin, often not available anywhere close to me), and don't find their export prices and shipping too bad at all.

This is going to be like the Lancaster.  Lots of eyes a lot bigger than a lot of bellies.  "Everybody" wants it, but nobody ever builds it.

Yup, hopefully both builds will be posted here on LSP.
