Warbird
Hi All, Here is what kept me busy the last two months. The Monogram kit is rough to say the least (except the tire flanks, oddly) and requires quite a lot of work to make it look descent. FYI from the box you cannot built the first machine(6062 aka Glamorous Glennis) unless you bring some substantial modifications to the the elevator hinges. Modifications include: Cockpit detailing (addition of seatbelts, instrument panel wires, etc) All trailing edges massively thinned. All probes scratchbuilt Air scoops scratchbuilt Engraved and partially riveted. Do not count on the raised panel lines to serve as guide, most of them are wrongly located Rocket engine rebuilt Decals from MH models (thin and good quality but stencils lack a bit of finesse) Masks for Stars & Bars and black rectangles home made using my Silhouette. Door does not fit at all so seem was filled with streched sprue and engraved. Paint is a mix of Gunze H14 and H24, applied separately to incoporate some tonal variation (barely noticeable on the picture).
