Phartycr0c
Thanks for the Viggen praise Geedub,, great to chat and it certainly looks like you covered all of the things I didn't manage to, thanks for posting these especially the comp entries as I didn't really manage to get round the show as I wanted to. geedubelyer
MikeC
Some great pics there, plenty of talent on display, and imnsho the top talent is by no means confined to the competition: plenty on the main show tables too. I recognised the DH.9 "Lobster" in one of the pics, I think it may be by our own DrDave. geedubelyer and phasephantomphixer

LSP_K2
That Frogfoot really makes my day, and is by far my favorite. geedubelyer
geedubelyer
Glad folk are enjoying the photos. At the risk of boring everyone to tears here are the last batch of LSPs This next diorama was epic. Again my pics don't do it justice. I believe it may be quite famous after an appearance at SMW '22 so I was happy to get an opportunity to view it up close and personal. Apologies for the cluttered and busy backgrounds that detract from the drama of the scene. Yes, that is a 1/32nd scale Lanc! You may be pleased to learn that that concludes the LSP portion of my photos I have a handful of odds and sods left to edit that are an eclectic mix of stuff. Question.......: Add them here or on a separate thread? Cheers. geedubelyer
Hello again. This last batch of photos are purely what caught my eye and as I mentioned before, they are an eclectic mix. First up a couple from the Airfix stand. Airfix made a surprise announcement on the eve of the show but prior to that there had been a definite FAA bent to their subjects. Buccaneer, Sea King and most recently a Fairey Gannet. I had to see how that one looked so made my way straight to their stand. I wasn't disappointed. Sadly this gem is 1/48th scale but setting the scale aside it's an absolute belter. For some reason I have always liked the Gannet although I think I would choose the AEW version with the underchin radar bulge if I had a choice. Then again, I have a 1/48th Airfix Seafire in the stash which might look quite good next to one of these. Next up, the best aircraft in show. I suppose they can't just keep handing the best in show to Mr. Castle and are forced to share this accolade out. (I'm not belittling the achievement of this fine model at all. However, seeing Peter's Tomahawk in the flesh is genuinely jaw-dropping) A random 1/48th scale Lightning just because..... And this...... I don't think I've ever seen Porco Rosso but find myself drawn to this model everytime I see one In 1/72nd scale this time and a superb carrier hangar diorama. More info here and here if you're interested. A few vehicles next. As a Mazda owner this jumped out at me. And, as a fan of classic endurance racing the stand cataloguing the history of LeMans was a treasure. A super busy diorama and a less pristine car..... A futuristic car? Fans of BladeRunner 2049 will recognise this one. An alternative racer More of a slow mover combo So much time and effort spent on the details of the bulldozer Finally, a handful of Warhammer 40K machines. So there we go. Hopefully that little lot gives a flavour of the show. To capture everything would take terrabytes of data and months of editing. There really is something for everyone at SMW. I'm glad I went over two days. Experience has shown me that there is too much to see in just one day. Even now there are things I missed like the grey scale Spitfire diorama shown in another thread. Saturday is extremely busy and unless you enjoy queuing there's little hope of seeing the competition tables. It's also difficult to move at times when crowds gather around some of the more amazing club stands and centrepieces. There are more free sweets and goodies on the tables than On Sunday though Sunday is less busy with less pushing and shoving. Some of the bargains may well have been snapped up but unless you are after something specific there are literally thousands of models to choose from. The whole show is epic I'm already looking forward to going again in 2024 Cheers, Guy Edited November 16, 2023 by geedubelyer dutik, LSP_Kevin, Uncarina and 9 others 10
Shoggz
Nice report and pictures Guy! We probably passed each other on the Sunday, as I definitely stopped and drooled over most of the models you took pictures of! Next year, I'm determined to do both days. geedubelyer
Jack
guys great great pictures, awesome kit results, thanks very much for posting, brings up some good inspiration (at least to this old modeller) and i've got one specific question: IS THAT A 32ND SCALE GINA?????? If so, who's producing it, i must have missed something? Cheers, Jack PS the G91 was in a earlier thread, sorry Edited November 16, 2023 by Jack geedubelyer
scvrobeson
I'm guessing that the Best of Show S.23 is the CMR kit? Or did somebody scratch-build that monster in 1/48? Matt geedubelyer

dennismcc
Great report and I concur that Sundays are best at Telford, it's a lot calmer and there are not the crowds, the downside is that most of the "bargains" are gone but these days there is nowt for me to buy so it's no big deal for me. Cheers Dennis Shoggz and geedubelyer 1
