branchline Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Thanks for the comment Pete, And, had some time over a cuppa, and in sunlight, to look a little deeper at the kit and the Kotare team have used some very clever engineering to conceal the upper fuselage joints, and have, mostly on the fuselage, subtle raised panels and rivet heads where appropriate. Plus all but the cockpit and canopy sprue ID tags state "Mk 1/11/V", the latter marked only Mk 1/11 which makes sense noting the cockpit sprue includes the top engine cowling and Rotol prop and spinner. There is mention in the instructions that they will deal with later Mk 1s in a later kitset... Unless someone beats me to it, I'll figure out how to upload up some images of the sprues (haven't done this for a while) doing it will have to wait a few days as the dairy is pretty chocker at present with other things. geedubelyer Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Hi Brent, congrats on getting your kit so early. Your comments are very encouraging and I look forward to some images in time. One thing I'm keen to know, have Kotare given the skin of the airframe any surface undulations in the way the team did with their (now Border models) Lancaster? Cheers mozart and KiwiZac 2

europapete Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Geedubelyer, that would depend on how the original a/c skin aged. Lancs and other heavy planes did get that effect, not sure if the lighter stuff like spits aged like that. Will have to look closer at photo's.
Troy Molitor Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I'm really looking forward to this one landing on my door step. I also wish Kotare great success going forward. europapete 1

There is much discussion over this topic. Images in the recently released WingLeader photo archive #20 show both smooth and "rippled" airframes.
europapete Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 .....Maybe that depended on the landing skills of the pilot!
europapete Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 IT'S SHIPPED! IT'S SHIPPED!! IT'S SHIPPED!!! KiwiZac, Uncarina, geedubelyer and 5 others 5 3
CShanne Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Mine shipped today as well. Maybe I will be building a spitfire soon! Uncarina and europapete 2
europapete Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 And you had BETTER do a damned good job of it! ( lolol, no pressure!) CShanne 1
Gazzas Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Dangit, I was hoping to be the first kid on the block with the new Kotare spit. Anyway... I took a pic. Yep, the Erakot Spitfire arrived today. KiwiZac, Rick Griewski, coogrfan and 3 others 3 3
Gazzas Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Sprue shots.... Dekkels.... The IP decals are in little groups, it seems... I LOVE the separate wing root fillets. You can have a seat with molded belts... or none at all. Nice! Pretty simple windscreen sprue... The promised resin exhaust stubs with deliciously thin walls... Did I mention two props and two spinners.... No dorsal seam to worry about on this kit. And here is some close up fuselage detail. With some pretty noticeable raised rivets. I know... my photography sucks. Another thing I really like... very light rib tape details on the control surfaces... unlike my last Revell build... And finally.... a shot of the instruction booklet... Tolga ULGUR, LSP_Kevin, Christa and 23 others 14 12
