Popular Post ROM
Hello The last 2 years, I was busy with this quite demanding project. And now I am pretty happy to finally share the result . I built side by side two Kittyhawk boxings, both in French Markings: a Mirage 2000-5F during Operation Harmattan (Lybia) in 2011, and a 2000D from Operation Chammal (Iraq/Syria) in 2015. The builds were far from "From the box" so to say... Kittyhawk... well is Kittyhawk you know. Interesting subject, quite nice details, but mistakes, lacks, or incomplete intructions. So I had to provide a lot of work to bring the models to a higher standard they deserve. It was maily done with the help of 3D printing. Non exhaustive list of addons: - Exhaust: Reskit - Cockpit -5: Renaissance - Cockpit 2000D: 3D+Quinta - Seats: Grandmodels - Wing Tanks RPL541 542: FFSMC - PE parts: Eduard - Wheels: 3D - RPL522 ventral tank: 3D - Missiles & Pylones: 3D - GUB24: 3D - Decals: Uprise et FFSMC - Figures: Reedoak The Mirage 2000-5F: And the Mirage 2000D: The full WIP is detailed in 80 pages of french Cocardes magazine, with English captions. With Mike's authorization, I share the link if you want to get a copy: Cocardes 24 Special Mirage 2000 Hope you like them! geedubelyer
Exquisite builds Rom. Two of the most nicely rendered models that I can remember for some time. Your finesse and subtlety is impressive. It's very easy to overdo elements simply for effect yet you have employed restraint and your models are the better for it. The attention to detail is fabulous and gives the pair a "heft" that is extremely difficult to achieve in scale. Bravo Neatly painted crew figures and professional photography too. Pose these two against a suitable backdrop in natural sunshine and they would look real. Thanks for taking the time to share these and thanks also for the link. Your article will make an interesting read. Cheers. Edited October 15, 2022 by geedubelyer ROM, Pete Fleischmann and SwissFighters

And less we can say is KH do not help a lot As for the figures, It was not easy for me to paint them, but those Reedoak gems deserve we take some time for them, isn't it? Thank you mate As for FFSMC, well, the design and ideas behind the sheets are excellent. During these builds I worked closely with Joffrey who designed Mirage decals. And I can say they are the most accurate you will find. But on the other side, Chris, the FFSMC owner, runs a very small business and the printer he operates gives a result not as good as other manufacturers. That said, I used FFSMC decals for all the pylon stenciling, Damocles Pod stencils (they made on my demand, just for me), Tail insignas, some aircraft stencils, crew names and bomb marks. FFSMC offers the possibility to make the actual aircraft markings you ask him, on demand. And that is a very smart concept, I find. It is worth trying... Codes, roundels and walkways are painted with masks. Bye!
jenshb
Thank you Romain - no problems getting the decals to conform to details and curvatures then?
