Guest The Southern Bandit
So the Spit is on sale in Germany for 28€ or $30. http://www.modellbau-universe.de/produkt;spitfire-mk-ixc-revell;re~03927;8;1;1;1.htm Cant fault that pricing! Like many here I'm a bit underwhelmed on Revell's choice of new 1/32 kits for us, but will probably pick up the Spit at that price, especially if its new tool. Nothing looks quite as impressive as a shelf of 1/32 Spitfires displayed side by side, not too big in this scale ... so most will have display room for another 1/32 Fighter I guess. mpk, LSP_Ron and MikeMaben

mpk
Does Revell have any recent history of doing ANY japanese subjects? No. Think about where they are located, who their domestic customer base is, and what sort of aircraft are available for them locally to do research on. Revell will continue to release western/european subjects. Japanese aircraft are more likely to come from Hasegawa, Tamiya, and ZM. Naturally. And if you look at their releases, ZM has given us a Shinden, a Raiden, and soon a Ki45. Hasegawa has done almost nothing but japanese aircraft in 1/32 in recent years. And Tamiya just rolled out a new Ki61, and a bit further back a new tool Zero (albeit both are 1/48). It's natural that we will see japanese subjects coming out of Japan. It's common sense based on where they are and who their local customers are. For russian subjects, we should look to eastern european kitmakers. ICM is jumping into 1/32 with an I-16, let's hope it sells so that they may be encouraged to continue. And it will be a big boost to the russian 1/32 market if Zvezda decides to ever get into the game. Special Hobby is a bit of an oddball, in that they seem to choose subjects from all over the place. I buy Revell kits, in Australia. We had P51's and Spitfires in the RAAF. P51's escorted B29's over Japan.... Considering the TGPW was the biggest air war of WWII, it's kind of sad. Hopefully more smaller companies will come to the rescue. I am very grateful for my SH Nate, Yak and Soviet P39, and Tamiya Zeros and Hasegawa Tony, Frank, Jack, Oscar etc. But I like girls. No Val, no Kate, no Betty. My aunty was named Betty. Revell should know this. I'd love some 1/32 Japanese bombers though. A 1/32 Pe-2 would be greatly appreciated as well. having said that, one cannot complain about the price tag. But then by the time one buys all the AM needed, the cost will be up there with a Tamiya. But in the wisdom shown to us by the Rolling Stones, "You can't always get what you want." gingerbob
On a side note what coupon But what i really realy want is a new 1/48 B-17 and b-25 I get e-mails from Tower- they're always offering $15 off a $50 order, but this one was $10 off a $20- worked out perfectly! Have to admit that I'm pretty happy with the 17 and 25s we already have, but that opinion might change if I tried to build another one... Tony T
... Nothing looks quite as impressive as a shelf of 1/32 Spitfires displayed side by side... Even better, 2-3 McDonnell F-4s with slightly sooty rears, or Trumpeter's new Fulcrums (oh yeah, baby!) I have the earlier Uhu, two Revell Spitfires (with resin correction or conversion parts, all destined for a raffle), but will buy the "wrong scale" Beaufighter plus the Foxbat repop with the new nose parts. The Super Hornet might be something to buy and build in an OOB orgy before the naysayers and rivet counters spoil the experience. Tony
Rick Griewski
If the new Revell Mustang is good from the outside so to speak then I will sell one of my Tamiya kits. I will only ever build one Tamiya kit with all the innards showing. Japanese kits... I am very happy to to see the Ki-45. There are a lot of nice decal sets for the Spitfire so I may pick up two. Special Hobby has been amazing. I still need to find a Mk II. All this said... Gawd I need to get at least 7 WNW kits; Four of them that have been around that could become gone, two more Camels and the new Taube. Rick
