Our RAF Tomahawk will get a Barr&Shroud MK2 salvaged from a defunct Fly Hurricane mounted on a sprue cross-bar. When the mods are completed, the main components of the airframe are assembled, the joints checked and ready for a final coat of primer before rolling to the paint shop. Until then keep well. Incidentally this ventral hole is the exact location of the bomb rack/ fuel tank attachment on the P-40C which I suspect GWH has projected for another boxing. Looking back, I found out I forgot to fill the small indent in the lip (which of course, must also be filled). On the other hand I re-made bigger drain lines and add a 3rd flexible line for the pilot’s relief a Today’s motto: NEVER LOOK BACK at what you’ve already done. A few more details have to be dealt with before committing to the paint shop. Filling the indent on the fairing lip. A piece of sprue is stuck in the indent. Excess removed and sanded… … after a coat of primer Many RAF Tomahawks of the desert air force wore a mast antenna. I fashioned mine from a bamboo cocktail stick. I also took the opportunity to add two ceramic insulators. These were also on the AVG machines. Walkways were often found on RAF and AVG Hawks. They were made from a strip of linoleum (a popular floor covering that old timers remember from their childhood days) glued to the wing and secured by a riveted strip of aluminium to keep the lino from fraying. Mine are made from the tin sheet covering the neck of a (carefully emptied) wine bottle. Rivets added and under a coat of primer A final detail before we go… this small round hatch on the right side of the fuselage. I don’t know its purpose but it’s frequently shown open on many period on-the-field photographs. I decide to add it as a conversation piece. That’s it folks.
