Kagemusha Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 Amazing work, really is a great tutorial on how to get the best out of the kit, thanks for sharing. quang 1
Jaro Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Excellent job! I love all these small corrections (like the fairing you did) -- all them 'make' the final look of the model! Keep going Alex and quang 2

I like implementing and sharing what I found in my ‘research’ on the internet. And in the case of an excellent kit like this one, it’s 100% sheer modelling fun Thank you all for your comments. Daywalker Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Impressive work on that underside fairing, I have made a mental note to follow your lead when I build mine!

This rather simple extra task would add much to the realism of the model. The underside fairing - the infamous ‘nun’s hat’- is correctly shaped but would need some extra detailing. 1-The two parts of the fairing should be separated and the upper lip refined and thinned (red arrow) 2-I suspect the small gap (yellow arrow) is added in provision for the belly tank of the P-40C. It's not present on the earlier variants and should be filled. 3-The crude moulded fuel and oil dump lines are removed and replaced with appropriate tubings. The 2 parts of the fairing are separated Upper lip thinned, gap filled, drain tubes Primed The electrical tab on the left wing only applies to the USAAC planes. On the export H81, it should be removed … …and replaced by an external tab on both wings. The windscreen on the H81 is a delicate affair. The armoured glass is installed first. Like on the actual export H81, no gunsight is provided in the kit as it was up to the recipient air forces to provide the appropriate sight. Our RAF Tomahawk will get a Barr&Shroud MK2 salvaged from a defunct Fly Hurricane mounted on a sprue cross-bar. When the mods are completed, the main components of the airframe are assembled, the joints checked and ready for a final coat of primer before rolling to the paint shop. Until then keep well. Cheers, Quang Very nice progress abd detail addition. And I have a question Did it need to be filled ventral hole (yellow arrow) for AVG Tomahawks? If so, I have to fix it in my WIP.

Incidentally this ventral hole is the exact location of the bomb rack/ fuel tank attachment on the P-40C which I suspect GWH has projected for another boxing. Looking back, I found out I forgot to fill the small indent in the lip (which of course, must also be filled). On the other hand I re-made bigger drain lines and add a 3rd flexible line for the pilot’s relief a Today’s motto: NEVER LOOK BACK at what you’ve already done. You’ll inevitably find something wrong that will need correcting Cheers, Quang Gone hunting for Easter eggs Rockie Yarwood, Tolga ULGUR, Landrotten Highlander and 7 others 9 1

scvrobeson Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Great instructional work on this! You're blazing the trail for everyone else with one of these. Matt
quang Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) No merit here, Matt. I’m only implementing what I learned on the internet. Now back to the build. A few more details have to be dealt with before committing to the paint shop. Filling the indent on the fairing lip. A piece of sprue is stuck in the indent. Excess removed and sanded… … after a coat of primer Many RAF Tomahawks of the desert air force wore a mast antenna. I fashioned mine from a bamboo cocktail stick. I also took the opportunity to add two ceramic insulators. These were also on the AVG machines. Walkways were often found on RAF and AVG Hawks. They were made from a strip of linoleum (a popular floor covering that old timers remember from their childhood days) glued to the wing and secured by a riveted strip of aluminium to keep the lino from fraying. Mine are made from the tin sheet covering the neck of a (carefully emptied) wine bottle. Rivets added and under a coat of primer A final detail before we go… this small round hatch on the right side of the fuselage. I don’t know its purpose but it’s frequently shown open on many period on-the-field photographs. I decide to add it as a conversation piece. That’s it folks. Next time hopefully we’ll be stirring the pots … of colours Until then, keep well Cheers, Quang Edited April 17, 2022 by quang patricksparks, Landrotten Highlander, Neo and 17 others 20

TuAF Tomahawks were sent from RAF Med stocks.
quang Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Great option, Tolga. You can notice the British B&S gunsight in the cockpit. Tolga ULGUR 1
quang Posted April 18, 2022 Author Posted April 18, 2022 (edited) So it’s the hole for the starting hand crank. Does make sense. Thanks Mike! GWH should have included a full set of service stencils. It would help appreciate the kit even more! Edited April 18, 2022 by quang
mozart Posted April 18, 2022 Posted April 18, 2022 I don’t know how I’ve missed your build Quang, a prolonged senior moment perhaps or obsession with solving a Bf110 nacelle build but I’ve just enjoyed reading about your adventure. Loving every step of the way….I do like a thorough and well researched build, and the shark mouth is sublime! i’ve given myself a good talking to, and subscribed to “Following”! Uncarina and quang 2
