i meant the artwork mock-up, not the actual aircraft (zero knowledge of - driven by zero interest in - Spitfires in US markings, just not my thing).

I went to the Kotare website and saw nothing, so assumed it was a cheesy fake (nothing wrong with those 🙂).

but I now see it mentioned on the Kotare Facebook page so obvs it’s legit

still a meh marking option for me me though, but I get that if it drives sales in the US of A then good for Kotare; and therefore good for us because we will get more models from them

ill prob do one in a Czech Sqn markings, as they have some cool cartoon noseart, if the variant is correct

You are quite right, all three Czech fighter squadrons flew both Vb and Vc variants (and at various times several other Merlin variants between them).  Trouble is, I'd just decided to do mine in the 31st FG markings, so now I'm going to have to pay out for at least two!

that artwork looks rather 'meh' - sorry to my American friends :)

At least it's got some neat history :-) It was the mount of American pilot Robert Inghram, who was shot down in this aircraft on 19 August 1942, during the Dieppe raid. He would successfully bail out, but was captured by the Germans in his dinghy and became a POW for the remainder of the war.

While not your cup of tea, us Colonials on this side of the pond are quite excited. Many of our decorated WWII combat pilots cut their teeth in the Spitfire Vb, to include Don Blakeslee and "Don" Gentile.

Gabby also flew Spits -albeit Mk. IX's- doing Channel sweeps for 315 Squadron circa 1943!

I just found a sheet of Exito decals for Spitfires with nose art and one is for a VB so I guess I'll be getting one of these when they're out.

I'll wait until they're available locally as the price works out much better.

lol the one in my stash just became worthless!!

I know what you mean. If I don't get them built before the excellent Kotare kit hits market then, well you know..

Good to see Vb, looking forward to Vc

Will be passing this offering probably depending on other decal options. So many schemes and variants to come including clipped wings and Volkes for Africa/Italy/ Pacific theatres. Have mentioned to Richard like to see a Paddy Fincucane and Douglas Bader special edition

It’s a masterstroke of Kotare to have that Spit in Yankee markings to get the colonials onboard! More power to their elbow….can we have an ‘urricane please?

Consider RAF Squadrons 71, 121 and 133 - the 'Eagle Squadrons', September 1940 to late 1942. They were Yanks flying operations in Spits after they were Yanks in Hurricanes Max.
