I just received a message from DACO informing me that my Fouga is on its way. It was posted today in Antwerp.
Here I am reassured. The order had been taken into account. Very happy

I was once in the same shoes as Danny so I know damn well how it works. We creative type can spend all our nights and our days with our ‘creatures’ but when it comes to admin chores, we are a complete nullity and hopelessly useless.

Now some quick shots of the plastic, just to show the crisp and delicate mouldings and also some hints about the numerous options offered by the kit.

Various IP types

This from my confirmation;

"You should receive a statement from PayPal mentioning:
'You sent a payment for  Euro to DANNY COREMANS '.
If my name doesn't show up, then you've probably made the transaction to a wrong account..."

Did you get a PayPal statement Mark?

Thanks, kag.

I got something similar, addressed to Daco Products instead.

The kit looks great, did any African countries use these jets. I watched a movie few years back that was set in Africa and had one in it attacking some people on the ground, cant remember name of movie though. Cheers.

The movie was surely ‘The Siege of Jadotville’ which refers to the 1960 Katanga insurrection in ex-colonial Belgian Congo. Three ex-BAF Fouga of the Katangese AF were armed with two 50 m.g. in the nose. These are supplied in the Daco kit.

Many other African air forces used the Fouga, namely Uganda, Cameroon, Senegal, Gabon, Morocco, Libya.

Hi Quang.
You are sure about the arming of the Katangan Fouga. In principle the armament of the Fouga was two AA 52 of 7.5mm (or 7.62mm depending on the version) A local modification remains possible but I don't see how we could fit two 12.7 mm in the nose of a Fouga.

Haha. Don’t tell me about the calibers. I’m a certified ignoramus concerning firearms. :BANGHEAD2:

I'm tempted as is, but if Daco release an African boxing of the kit I'll be down for three of them.

African boxing? Or Asian or South-American?  Why not?
The Fouga flew under 21 different flags throughout its career. This kit offers much more potential than one can think at first sight.

I just gave all the sprues a thin coat of Mr Surfacer 1200 to check the quality of the plastic.
Having built two of Zoukei-Mura kits (the Skyraider and the Bf-109), I find the Daco kit reminding me furiously of the ‘old man’s obsessions:

the quality of the moulding, the high number of parts (often wrongly taxed as ‘over-engineered’), the exposed innards and… the detailed instruction booklet (hopefully without the vintage hype :coolio:)

A .50 just looks as an enlarged .30. Here we are indeed considering a 7.62mm (0.30 inch) caliber.

Danny may change his mind because of the demand but I asked him at the convention about this specific topic and he clearly said he was not considering that. However he confirmed Isradecals was already working on an IAF set.

Just to add, Algeria and Togo also had Magisters.  I believe most, of not all the "exotic" Magisters were recycled French/Belgian/German/Israeli/Austrian craft, sold on.  I don't think any of the African nations purchased new planes.

That's a shame. As nice as the kit looks, I've got too many kits as is so I'll only get one if someone produces decals for a few African versions (mainly Algeria and Katanga).
