Dennis7423
All- Here's my recently completed Hasegawa 1/32 P-47D Bubbletop. She was a shelf of doom sitter for almost two years; I had completed one in these markings prior, but ruined it with a bad wash. I wanted to rebuild it, lost my mojo, and then decided to finish it about a month ago. She has Eduard photoetch, Barracudacast wheels, and Lifelike Decals. I painted the invasion stripes too far outboard on the wings, but shhhh... don't tell anyone! Weathered with acrylics and Tamiya weathering kits. Comments and critiques are welcome! 22366374_10102199453434902_4608587082617021814_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22405754_10102199453814142_517342673453713178_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22365228_10102199453649472_2234407204538076019_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22366835_10102199453739292_2807610456065077524_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22406450_10102199453874022_1016118347940215906_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22405964_10102199453903962_8388030496778418074_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr 22282046_10102199453968832_3012719800487688181_n by Dennis SAuter, on Flickr - Dennis S. AceofClubs
Whom I hope to made the same errors you said on my P47 Bubbletop in wip! Spectacular work, I love it . A q: I'm not an expert so why only one star on starboard top wing but two underwings? Ciao Filippo
Dennis7423
Filippo- US ground attack aircraft in WWII after D-Day started carrying more insignia on the bottom to aid with ground recognition of friendly aircraft. It was fairly unique to P-47's, but they were mostly ground attack aircraft after the Mustang began taking over bomber escort duties full time. HTH. - Dennis S. dennismcc
Nice one, great build and the NMF looks perfect (not too shiny nor too dull) and as invasion stripes are something that I tend to avoid I would not have known if you had not mentioned it !
