Patrick HMD
You guys who have criticized 12 o'clock high seemed to have missed the point IMHO. If I had to explain it, you probably would not understand. I rest my case. The TV series is available on u tube.

JeepsGunsTanks
For flying war movies, I like the Battle of Britain, but it's gotta be the long version. I also really enjoy "The Bridges at Toko-ri", with Holden and Grace Kelly, and "The Hunters" with Mitchum. A guilty pleasure is "Flight of the Intruder", and it is worth the time just for the great A-1 Skyraider work done by the Planes of Fame. coogrfan

Lots of 'variations' to choose from. mozart

But it would be an even greater honour to get most of it right, and lose some of the gung-ho smalsh IMHO. Hopefully they had good intentions, but just a little bit more effort would have given everyone a better result. Having said that, it is out on DVD and I have ordered a copy. More out of curiosity, will see if it can be sat through to the end. Bought “Spitfire over Berlin” (or something like that) but thought that was absolute rubbish! Agreed. Napoleon could have been a better movie if it was more accurate. Ridley Scott may do a historical film on the Battle of Britain. The same man who gave us his version of a non-happening medieval ‘Saving Private Ryan’ in reverse in his Robin Hood movie? You must be kidding. We all know that Ridley Scott did a healthy number of cinema classics in his time (The Duellists, Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Thelma and Louise,… you name it) but we have to admit that the years have taken their toll. Not that age has something to do with it because George Miller (Mad Max:Fury Road,…) at 80 is still alive and kicking
LSP_Mike
I'd rather see Ridly Scott do something filmwise on the Chosin resevoir battle/campaign. Come to think of it, I'd like to see something along the lines of Band of Brothers & The Pacific, on the Korean War. D.B. Andrus

It is the sequel to Gladiator. Ridley Scott did Kingdom of Heaven. The Director's Cut was great!
quang
Kingdom of Heaven was great. From both historical and cinematic points of view. I’m not so much excited by Gladiator.
Palm-tree
Oh dear, if this turns out to be another wish list running to "n" pages where "n" is a large positive integer why not a film about Horatio Nelson? Bill Cross and Fanes

Modelers will get all trembly with excitement over a kit that will sell in the tens.... Hollywood is thinking larger numbers. Chosin Reservoir-- can you just imagine the pitch session? Ridley Scott: JB, you need to imagine a film about thousands of Marines freezing to death who are attacked by hordes of Chinese PLA "volunteers." JB: You mean like the battle scenes in "Lord of the Rings"? RS: Not exactly, the Marines have to endure a fighting retreat through bitter cold while they are slowly decimated by the Chinese and North Koreans. JB: Is there a hot love story between one of the Marines and a captured PLA female soldier? RS: Mmmm, well, that would be implausible. JB: Implausible, hell, we need to put fannies in the seats. I love y'all, but Chosin Reservoir doesn't jump off the screen. Edited December 11, 2023 by Bill Cross Pete Roberts
