Here's a fine color shot of just how filthy a B-17 can get.

B-17_VP-P_42-32025_color_photo.jpg

Notice the subcontractor painted outer wings (different shade of OD). mod adding vents to the upper wing tips.  Modification center installed waist and cheek gun stations, Oil soaked engine nacelles, faded olive drab paint, missing deice boots.  Photo was taken some time after July 1944 when the red wingtips, and stabs were applied.  All together a very war weary machine...and she's not atypical as evidenced by one of her sisters in the background.

OK, as promised, I've taken some better close up shots of what I can determine are the new parts of interest. Once again, if there's anything specific you'd like to see, just let me know.

Firstly, the nose floor (not sure if this is new or not):

New prop blades:

New cowls:

New instrument panel:

New guns:

A pair of new noses:

Top turret (?) - again, not sure if this is new, but someone asked IIRC:

I think these are the two new clear parts for the nose (please correct me if I'm wrong!):

Once again, if you want to see anything else, let me know.

I would quite like to do a brass panel for that - as for me it looks like it needs a little help

doubtless Eduard have this in hand though..

Could you do one for me? It'd save me some work! :)

Thanks Kevin for posting these. These are a few random photos I took of the Memphis Belle and the Swoose being restored at the USAF Museum in Dayton, Ohio. My point was to show that the original F nosepiece and turrets still exist and could be measured and photographed if desired, assuming arrangements are made. The other photos are just to give an idea of the restoration being done on these two old Forts. Have to say, it was awesome being in the presence of such greatness.

And the second lot of photos from Bill:

Hi Kev,

Would you be able to take a side profile pic of the 3 nose clear pieces (in the same pic for length comparison)?

Thanks,

Peter

I'll see what I can do. It'll be difficult to get them all operating off the same baseline, though, without snipping them off the sprues first.
