I finally finished to paint the cockpit. Now the fuselage is about to be closed.

The resin cockpit is a nice addition (and anyway a part of the conversion as there are many differences with the standard MiG-21MF, like the screens) but some details are a bit soft and not easy to paint. The close-ups never forgive, unfortunately, but with the eyeball the result is not too bad. Anyway i think i will build it with the canopy closed.

The kit nor the resin set supply any rudder pedals, so i quickly scratch built them, simply with some square profiles, rounded with a file, and then i "textured" them with the diamond pattern on the tail of a file to get the anti-slip surface look.

Thanks for the comments !

I finally suceed to close the fuselage and glue the rear part of the fuselage as well as the main tail plane and the bottom tail.

First i had to finish the exhaust (i was not satisfied with my first attempt so i repainted the turkey feathers). I did not used the supplied (in the conversion) ring actuators as they were hard to fit, and could absolutely not be seen. So i drilled small holes in the ring and just used some fine metal wire.

I'm now working on all the little details specific to the Lancer version or not, that go on the fuselage.

I'm using the Quickboost resin scoops that look better and more accurate than the kit ones. I will attach the smallest and more fragile small parts (there are very small lancer sensors) at the very end just before painting to avoid breaking them during the manipulations.

The kind of rod antenna (i think it's an antenna) on the right side just below the canopy was missing in my conversion set, so i remade one from scratch. I started from a piece of squared sprue, filed to shape. The antenna is not exactly a rod, it's more a kind of rounded cover on something angular. Then i added the covers on each ends, sprue bits sanded to shape, too, and applyed a thick coat of primer on them to get a more accurate shape. I then sprayed a thick coat of Mr Surfacer to make the overlaping covers. I still have to slightly sand them to clean the burr, and add some decal rivets and it would be done.

Yesterday i glued the wings. The fit was terrible, so i added some plastic sheet, filled the gap with CA, and then a thick coat of Mr Surfacer applied with a brush. I will clean the excess this evening with lacquer thinner, but i wanted to wait for it to be fully cured inside the seam.

Hi

great job !! the cockpit is very convincing ....Florin suggested you to rescribe the panel on the vertical fin ( on the left side ) , I suggest you to remove the same panel .....on the right side
