Looks very good Max,told you those ANYZ parts were easy to install! How does the MRP aqueous range perform compared to say Vallejo when hand painting?

So plenty done while waiting for the putty/ Mr Surfacer to dry fully so I can sand and finish the wings properly properly. Some more work on the cockpit and first up getting thr new and accurate Barracudacast 3D printed control column to fit.
Also completed the work on the fuselage halves getting the cockpit to Mk V spec. I used the Barracudacast resin parts wherever possible as they are so much nicer than injection moulding plastic!
Next job is to get the wing assembly together, hopefully will look half decent and pass as a V.b

I hope the Yahu panel fits decently, I have one also and a Barracuda seat, so yours could almost be a rehearsal fir mine.
John
The Yahu panel needs quite a bit of adjustment to fit which is no suprise given thecthe HB kit has a terrible flat and oversized shape to it. You can shape it down and still looks good but I'm not prepared to pay £30 odd quid for a Quinta one so I'll use what I have!

Anyway, don't want to derail your thread. May I ask why you decided to replace the seat? I was planning to go with the kit seat for mine.
I've replaced the seat with a Barracudacast "plastic seat" Mike. Early Spitfire's had metal seats but Mk.V's and onwards had plastic seats fitted which were an interesting red colour

Absolutely beautiful and precise work as always Roger, I do hope we are one day treated to a Captured Eagles Volume 2, Volume 1 is one of my favourite books in my collection!

Andy, I'm specifically looking for the entire turret unit from either of the HK A-20 kits. I'd like to replace the entire unit from the Hobby Boss B-24 so that it is more accurate.

Ah I see, thought you were looking for an extra Emerson or Consolidated nose turret! That's a shame !

I have not from the directly, no. I have had luck sourcing sprues from eBay from folks who part out their kits and sell the sprues individually, and I hope to do this to source another turret for my B-24.

Which turret are you looking for Dennis as I've already picked up the extra sprues so maybe able to help depending on which model of turret you need

Mine had some warping of the wings and fuselage halves
But nothing a couple of hours and some very hot water couldn't sort out
All part of the enjoyment and build process of a resin kit really. Need to get back to thos one but knee seep in Kotare Spitfire's at the moment.

When I sanded back the instrument panel detail I found that what I thought was black plastic was in fact a coating and it is clear plastic underneath! Thank goodness they stick to just grey plastic now

Definitely not a "fairly simple easy build", but rather a "it was a bumpy one but I enjoyed the flight" kind of kit.
Yep, definitely! I can say that the flaps and control surfaces fitted perfectly
It's an early ZM kit and has plenty of issues but when built up looks so good and well worth the hard work.

Absolutely beautiful work on a tricky kit as well as the conversion. Did you modify the cockpit accordingly as well?

I don't understand why they are still allowed to use the term "Royal " at all these days.
The service is just so poor and cost is ridiculous even to send anything second class.
Placed an order at Hannants today and chose an alternative to Royal Mail for my delivery as they are so unreliable.

Wasn't aware of the Haynes manual Max, if you have recommended it I think I will find one as I'm feeling the need to make a start soon. Couple of Spits to finish first and try and get the Typhoon back on the bench as well.

As yet, I don’t know which aircraft I’ll be doing as I’m still getting my info together. Thanks for the book recommendations though, it’s really helpful.
Early or late that's the question

The Wingleader ones are the best available from a modelling perspective. Then the Valiant ones are right behind. I have at least thirty Lancaster books but all other ones are far behind from that view.
I definitely concour with Thierry that the Wingleader and Valiant books just behind. I would suggest if you know the subject you are going to build you only need 1 of the Wingleader books and worth thinking about the Valiant book also.

Some work on the cockpit after noticing the shrinkage of the putty on the lower wings which recieved a good coat of Mr Surfacer 1000
First up I removed the instrument panel mouldings in readiness for the Yahu panel
And then worked on getting the Barracudacast resin seat to fit. I removed the mounting points from the kit seat sides
glued these to the bulkhead and then fiited the seat
Also worked on the cockpit floor and found some 2 level pedals suitable for the Mk.V in the spares box
So far so good and coming along nicely.

Masterful work Andy! Good catch with those lower blisters and excellent workaround using the Kotare part itself to fill the gap.
Cheers, Tom
Thanks for looking in Tom, it's a very nice kit and being impatient I've gathered everything together to do this conversion, think I've got it all covered.
