  1. So plenty done while waiting for the putty/ Mr Surfacer to dry fully so I can sand and finish the wings properly properly. Some more work on the cockpit and first up getting thr new and accurate Barracudacast 3D printed control column to fit.

Also completed the work on the fuselage halves getting the cockpit to Mk V spec. I used the Barracudacast resin parts wherever possible as they are so much nicer than injection moulding plastic!

Next job is to get the wing assembly together, hopefully will look half decent and pass as a V.b

I hope the Yahu panel fits decently, I have one also and a Barracuda seat, so yours could almost be a rehearsal fir mine. :)

The Yahu panel needs quite a bit of adjustment to fit which is no suprise given thecthe HB kit has a terrible flat and oversized shape to it. You can shape it down and still looks good but I'm not prepared to pay £30 odd quid for a Quinta one so I'll use what I have!

Anyway,  don't want to derail your thread.  May I ask why you decided to replace the seat?  I was planning to go with the kit seat for mine.

I've replaced the seat with a Barracudacast "plastic seat" Mike. Early Spitfire's had metal seats but Mk.V's and onwards had plastic seats fitted which were an interesting red colour

Andy, I'm specifically looking for the entire turret unit from either of the HK A-20 kits. I'd like to replace the entire unit from the Hobby Boss B-24 so that it is more accurate.

Ah I see, thought you were looking for an extra Emerson or Consolidated nose turret! That's a shame !

I have not from the directly, no. I have had luck sourcing sprues from eBay from folks who part out their kits and sell the sprues individually, and I hope to do this to source another turret for my B-24.

Which turret are you looking for Dennis as I've already picked up the extra sprues so maybe able to help depending on which model of turret you need

As Andy said, if you know which Lanc you are doing, ie the serial number, you will only need one of the Wingleader books.

The latter starts with HK535 as a Late production batch. I would also suggest the Haynes manual, very researched and good detail pictures

Wasn't aware of the Haynes manual Max, if you have recommended it I think I will find one as I'm feeling the need to make a  start soon. Couple of Spits to finish first and try and get the Typhoon back on the bench as well.

The Wingleader ones are the best available from a modelling perspective. Then the Valiant ones are right behind. I have at least thirty Lancaster books but all other ones are far behind from that view.

I definitely concour with Thierry that the Wingleader and Valiant books just behind. I would suggest if you know the subject you are going to build you only need 1 of the Wingleader books and worth thinking about the Valiant book also.

  8. Some work on the cockpit after noticing the shrinkage of the putty on the lower wings which recieved a good coat of Mr Surfacer 1000

First up I removed the instrument panel mouldings in readiness for the Yahu panel

And then worked on getting the Barracudacast resin seat to fit. I removed the mounting points from the kit seat sides

glued these to the bulkhead and then fiited the seat

Also worked on the cockpit floor and found some 2 level pedals suitable for the Mk.V in the spares box

So far so good and coming along nicely.
