...and that's it
In 1946, an American offer was received for the supply of aircraft for the Polish naval aviation. It included F6F Hellcat fighters and torpedo bombers TBM-3 Avenger bombers and torpedoes. At the same time, the first demonstration aircraft arrived at the former German airport in Dziwnów - two F6F-5 fighter Hellcats and one F6F-5P reconnaissance aircraft.
The Polish side ultimately did not accept the offer, which was determined by the unit price (Barracudas, although inferior in performance to the Avengers, were almost two times cheaper), and in the case of fighters also lower performance than the Mustangs just received from the USA. Also it was considered that for one planned fighter squadron ( 5th "Privateer" Squadron) there was no reason to put new type of fighter into service.
However, the Hellcats remained in Poland and served in 2nd Women Squadron.Depicted Hellcat, named "Kiciuś" ("Kitty" in english) was used mainly for combat training and CAP over Baltic Sea.

Nice work on those seatbelts. Looks like you’re turning this old kit into an eye turner!
Thanks

Thank you
I send styrene exhausts for a reconaissance mission to trash bin and used brass tubes instead
New barrels from Master are definitely better than kit's ones.

Cockpit is ready so I put it into fuselage:
As usual, seatbelts from aluminium foil:
I didn't decided yet if I'll leave one of gunbays open so I glued and painted both of them.

Because I'm stuck with what-if Ju-87 (gunpods problem) then I'll start another one...
Because last week I became an owner of Hasegawa Hellcat then today I unboxed it and imediatelly it landed on my bench. I'll use Master gun barrels and seatbelts made of yoghurt foil.
And here is my victim:
And here are first glued and painted parts. I've decided to leave cockpit as it is with only minor upgrades.

Display is working:)
I've used some foil for fingernails to achieve glare.

Lovely cockpit work. How did you paint the IP? It looks so neat and tidy.
Tamiya Rubber Black as a base and Neutral Gray on top. Then UNI Posca waterpaint markers for all buttons, knobs etc...Their stiff point is more controlable than paintbrush and they're available in few sizes:

Cockpit is almost ready.
Now to backlighted display...

Greebling behind seat is done
...and with seat inside fuselage.
Now to very disturbing part - instrument panel lighting

Little update...
Using some spare buckles and yoghurt foil I made seatbelts:
Rear cockpit wall was empty so I made some greblies based on drawings:
Airbrake is now movable:

I remember watching the Macross anime on TV as a kid, back in the eightees! Really loved the series! Those fighters always remembered me on F-14 Tomcats.
Good to see on of those build.
Go ahead artoor! Follow with interest!
I watched every part of Macross: Zero, Plus, Frontier, DYRL and I'm still big fan of it
VF-0S Phoenix from Macross Zero was basically a modified Tomcat, I think You'll like it
Meanwhile, I managed to make a working actuator for airbrake.
Hinges are only problem now. Due to curvature of fuselage I cannot make'em in place, where manufacturer placed them. Hinges have to be longer and closer to each other.
Thankfully, I'm so happy after whole airbrake work that I'll redo it with pleasure

Nice to see another one of these kits being built.
I've got the Strike Valkyrie as previously mentioned and will be adding lights to mine.
Will you be lighting your build?
I hope I'll be able to add lights for cockpit and exterior of airplane.
Now I'm fighting with airbrake interior. Sadly, design drawing aren't clear so I have to use 1/48 model as a basis.

As a general fan of Japanese sci-fi, I like this kind of stuff! So yeah, let's see it! Is there a way to get an overall view of what this project entails? How many parts are we talking about here? Three versions... which one are you going to build? Is it a snap-together kit or glue required? Once built, will it have posable or movable features? Pilot figure included and is he/she anime-styled?
Here is in box:
Number of parts? Well, honestly, I don't know...
I will build fighter version without any additional armanent-as I said, two other versions are sold separately. It looks like a snap kit but glue is more than needed. Wings and exhausts are movable. Pilot is included but seated in cockpit and with helmet on. Also, there are three metal rods which are inserted into landing gear struts.

Plastic is thick so cutting out the airbrake was a long process. But it had to be done...

I'm a big fan of the tv series, looking forward to seeing this one getting built! Where did you get this one from btw? I wouldn't mid getting one myself one day.
I assume it doesn't transform between the 3 modes?
Craig
I bought mine in 2021 on ebay, it's from Max Factory/PLAMAX, in HLJ shipping was three time more expensive than model itself. It's discontinued at the moment but I'm pretty sure that you'll find one on ebay.
No, it doesn't transform but You can buy it in three configurations separately: fighter, fighter with additional armanent (FAST packs, cannons etc) and gerwalk also with FAST packs.

Hello,
I really hope that you don't throw me out of here
If never build FB23 was allowed then why not Valkyrie? It was well designed, for tv anime series but still...There are rc models of it so it is airworthy...
So...Im taking a risk of ban and starting it here:D
Here is the box, I cannot make a photo of it in any other way.
Because ejection seat consisted of only few parts Ive made a cushion, some details and wires based on original Kawamori's drawings.

I agree, what if ideas are generally pretty cool. I’ve several in mind myself. This looks pretty interesting. Would love to have a “What If” build thread. Just imagine the cool schemes some of us would come up with.
True. There was a What-If GB some time ago here...I have perfect model to it - a sci fi 1/20 VF-1 Valkyrie from Macross.

Hello,
Few months ago one of my friends drew a what if Ju-87 in polish service. Since I'm a sci fi/what if modeller then I couldn't just pass it by. Here it is:
I'll modify the scheme in some ways but this is the way
My set is like below, unstarted.
Here are two torpedoes from sparebox which will be used in my model.

So...time for this one...
Yesterday I've scratchbuild gunpods and pylons for them. Of course it'll be further detailed.
