I'm more eager for this one from Z-M than the Fw190A...

As far as Italeri goes, a 205 and a G55 would be logical from where I sit.

    Folks-

While we await the release and review of the new Laminar Flow 1/32 Spitfire Mk.XIVe conversion (and the subsequent variants associated), our friend in Belgium has already announced his next project: A conversion of the Revell Germany P-51D kit to a P-51B. Based on what we've seen from the Spitfire conversion, this will be top-notch, but obviously much more expensive as the conversion will be much more involved. In a way, it will be a conversion of the Laminar Flow P-51B set using the Revell P-51D :-p

As per usual, I will post updates as they become available. I also think this will be his first crack at clear parts. We'll see how it all goes.

ninjrk reacted to Ali62 in Ki-100 model, conversion?
Having being part of this set an ALL the early Alley Cat products, that was my first brand going back almost 20 years ago.
I gave up ownership of Alley Cat about 9 years ago when Alec Smith bought all the masters and rights when my business ran into financial troubles.
So onto the Ki-100, these patterns were done by my friend Phil Edwards, he created many of my masters for Alley Cat, a true craftsman, all hand pattern making.
He very unfortunately passed away in the middle of last year, far to young, as he was the same age as I am, at the time he was 60.
I am really sorry to hear and see, the distorted parts, but as Rick has stated many times they can be corrected upon, and way back then I did manage to correct some fuselage parts, not all to be honest, I would try and secure the rear, and try and manipulate the front section with hot water. If I still had access to the patterns and moulds I would replace but I do not, and I have no contact with the current owner. I do hope you can correct it.
As for the accuracy Phil did admit that once he had gained access to the Ki-100 that was at Cosford for a time, after the conversion had been on sale for quite a few years, that the wing root area was not quite correct, unfortunately that pattern never did get corrected.
Although not much help this at least explains some of the background to the subject and pattern.

I'm pretty happy about the F.3.  I know it limits what paint can be used I think having a 1/32 version of the only operational WW2 jet the allies fielded is pretty awesome.

I've read that this might be because third parties are doing the initial research and CAD design and then selling these to the various manufacturers so there's not R&D tie required before the sprue design.  So one company buys the files, announces it, and then any other company could think "me too!" and buy the files and go right into sprue design.

This looks really nice!  And after everything your country has been suffering I'm glad that you're OK and you've been able to resume your work. I have several of your kits and they are quite well done.  I have a soft spots for these WW2 jets so I keep buying his kits. . .
I'm still crossing my fingers for the Ki-201 someday, I happily sent the $25 "donation for a new model" so I really want the bloody thing. . .

I hope this post is OK but I wanted to put out there that Inside the Armor is having a book sale and their scratchbuilding books in particular are outstanding, especially the aircraft one. I tend to like instructional reference and still have and refer to my copies of John Alcorn's books but these are at least as good and frankly better in my opinion. Just an FYI for the group from someone who bought them and uses them a lot.  The Perfect Pits one is right up our alley!

Yes, You can build that kit without the engine installed.

    Take a look at this picture;

It´s the last part, the axle and the cooling fan where you mount the prop that´s important.

I guess you could leave the rest out.

There´s some see-trough from below as a part of the wheel wells are directly below.

I would agree, though some of that might be my frustration that they never gave me a Ki-100.

I would also suggest that I'd be very surprised if they go the WW1 route.  I think that there was less of a pent up demand than they were just such good kits that people bought them for the sake of building them.  Especially when you got a superb easy to display model with outstanding instructions for $69 and free shipping.  That's why i started buying them even though I had very little interest in WW1 planes as far as building any went.  Have them do a P-51B/C, BF-109E, Ki-43, (I'd say A6M but Tamiya covered that too well) etc and they would be printing money.  They already had a company close out from under them because of tackling esoteric subjects at the expense of demanded subjects (supposedly at least) and there are so many WW2 fighters alone that have good kits but nothing great.  A WNW level kit of almost any popular subject not kitted by Tamiya in the past 10 years would be the best example of any of them on the market.
