imatt88
Hey all, I'm sure this has been talked about before, but what interior color should I paint my Revell Mossie? Yellow Zinc Chromate or dark green? Cheers, Ian
LSP_Ron
RAF interior green, it's more of a grey green. It's a common color that can be found in most brands of enamel or acrylic. Google it that name and you'll get the options. Ron LSP_K2

Wolf Buddee
They say a picture is worth a thousand words! That ought t' do it nicely! Model Master RAF interior green will work nicely. Gerhard
Humbrol make a Cockpit Green Matt 78: It's a bit lighter than the image below, very close to what Wolf posted above. Edited November 17, 2017 by Gerhard
fightersweep
If using Humbrol, I would suggest a mix of Hu 78 and Hu 120. Hu 78 on it's own is a bit too dark. HTH Best regards; Steve
Sparzanza
If that's remotely close to what the actual paint looks like, it's not anything like RAF Interior Grey-Green. That looks more like US Interior Green, which is a totally different color. My Humbrol 78 looks nothing like that. This is what mine looks like:
mozart
That Mosquito interior shot is about right. I have some small sections from the cockpit of a Lancaster that crashed in 1945, the lightness of the grey-green paint on the sections surprised me when comparing it with commonly accepted ideas of what RAF Interior green should be. Humbrol's for instance is far too dark. MRP's acrylic IG is as good as I've seen. Max
EvilCarrot
Some people, including myself, use Tamiya XF-71. It's meant for Japanese interiors but to my eye it looks quite similar to RAF interior green. I used it on my Hawker Tempest.
G-Man
Does Mr. Color make something close to this other than the CS681 set? I have yet to find an answer for this.

TonyT
As you can see from the original mossie photo, it looks different from various angles, the green is lighter than that shown for Humbrol, but , again different cameras different light and different mixes all will play their part, as will any treatment under it. spraying green over wood will give a different shade to aluminium. as examples some of my photos.. MK 19 pre rebuild, same cockpit, different lighting conditions, same camera. Brown staining is the sealant soaking through that was used at build ( pressurised remember) Post rebuild in accurate colours, but again variances in photography. imatt88
Great stuff! Thanks for all the info everyone. My lhs started carrying a full line of vallejo acrylic paints. I just picked some rlm 66, but haven't used it yet. They should have interior colors for US, Luftwaffe, British, etc Cheers, Ian
LSP_Kevin
I've used XF-71 before too, and think it's quite effective. Kev EvilCarrot
