  3. My mate was there when the troubles kicked off and it looked like Akrotiri would be abandoned, he worked in the avionics bay where they had equipment both rare and megga expensive like 100's of thousands, that took ages to set up... they were told to pack all the hi value on pallets for evacuation and other stuff like meggas, to destroy them with fire axes, this was done. They were told a Herc was coming for the high value and everything was prepped, the Herc arrived and they loaded what they could and awaited the next Herc, 15 mins later the Herc arrived and they loaded it all on, then noticed it was the same crew, asking where all the gear was the crewman pointed out to sea and said ohhh about 20 miles that way.. Needdless to say the place wasn't abandoned and they were left with feck all.

  6. The normal Palouse was the Oblong four wheel trolley, used them on the VC10, someone decided it would be a good idea to use it on a gentle breeze setting to defrost a frozen toilet waste gate as the coupling was the same, it erm worked, it blew the contents of the toilet system and tank up through the bog coating the aft cabin of the said VC 10 with sh't? We had the rear cabin stripped out of all the trim and aIr freshener in it with the doors open for over a week and it still smelt of you know what.

  10. I would be interested to see the cockpit built, you know the Buccaneer seats are offset so the rear seater has a view forward. These may help you https://s536.photobucket.com/user/taylortony/library?page=1

  14. I have been thinking about this, the owner of WNW is Peter Jackson who is the film director responsible for the Lord of the Rings series, he is also the future director of the film The Dambusters and as such has built several full scale Lancaster bombers for the film. To do this he would of had to have scanned the Lancaster in real life to get the dimensions / details correct, if that is one reason why he has chosen to do the Lancaster, IE they already had the 3D drawings for the full size one, it might be interesting to note they have also built a 1/2 scale Wellington bomber using presumably the same technique.
  15. You could of had a full size starfighter in Germany in the 70's, all you had to do was purchase a patch of land and sooner or later one would drop in.
  16. The likes of the P47 is already out there so why would they produce a kit where they have competition, surely market sIzes need to be a consideration, I am surprised the Tiff did so well in the USA as its not exactly a well known type over there... Mk14 Spit would be my choice as there are no large Griffon Spits about and they are sadly lacking in any scale.. But for the US market perhaps an A1 SkyraIder, though the thought of a Grumman Duck would tickle my fancy.
  17. It's not them paying it, it is the parents Myself, I would as in all of these cases have a law where anyone causing damage like this would when they reach working age have a percentage of their wages ( and that would include benefits ) deducted at source by a court order until full reparation had been fulfilled to whom ever it be, the aggrieved or the insurance company that has paid out. Maybe then they will realise that their actions have long reaching consequences that they will be unable to sweep behind them.

  19. Sentencing has been handed down, rather lackluster too https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-49397838
  20. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-47705912 What3words How clever is that, it uses three words to pinpoint your exact location down to a 3 metre box, so if you are lost, arranging to meet someone, or have a crash etc, it can tell the emergency services exactly where you are with three words.
  21. Just thought I would mention the sacru as you were worried about doing it, see https://www.shapeways.com/product/VPKD5ZZEF/westland-wessex-sacru-cargo-hook-1-32?optionId=64938906&li=marketplace

  23. https://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/80602-anyone-flown-wessex-9.html the Falklands ones here also appear to have the asbestos wrap on the exhausts that we had on a couple of cabs in NI.
