Vynce804
Hi All, So this is the 2nd time i have built this kit. The first time was an OD example with a shark mouth on the cowling and as hard as i try i just don't like the final result, maybe its the green is the wrong shade or i should have gone for more conventional markings i don't know but feel i have a better one in me! So here goes, the plan is to do a NMF Duxford example similar to the period picture below. Ive never done a NMF model before so that will be a bit of a shot in the dark and i also plan to paint all of the markings. Ive made a start and just about completed the cockpit and the engine. The engine was much simpler to build than i remember from my first attempt...perhaps since i haven't included some of the details behind the 1st bank of cylinders as this is completely invisible once in the cowling. Talking of which, the chequered cowling was the elephant in the room so decided to get it out of the way early, its still a work in progress and will need some more touching up but its starting to look ok...but it a lot of masking!! phasephantomphixer
Oh Yeah! Got it just right that I see. Super choice on scheme too. Suggest you lay down NM too shiny at first, then dulled as it has that underlying reflectance Aluminum gives. Watching this one...

Troy Molitor
Looking forward to this one Matt. I really like the checkered cowling and natural metal combo you have chosen. This should be exciting. Troy
Vynce804
Hi All, Not much progress as I've not had much time at the bench. The main components of the airframe are together and I'm prepping the seams and joins for the NMF paint. Other than that I've had some fun painting a pilot figure...its a lot harder than i thought! Mr b
the pilot is nicely done and i am sure will add positively to the finished product cheers
Bstarr3
Very nice work on the figure! How do you like the Trumpy kit overall so far?
1to1scale
LOL! I love these Jugs! Its almost laughably huge for a single engine. Can wait to see you NMF, I am working on the bubble top right now, and have a Razorback waiting.
Guest
Looks great, and it's one of the few Trumpeter kits I have built and enjoyed. I'll probably get another at some point.
Gazzas
I loves me a razorback Jug. Great work on that pilot! Gaz Edited May 1, 2018 by Gazzas
Thomas Lund
Super work so far - looking forward to this :-) And I actually do like you first Razorback, although it is a bit unusual, it is very nicely done
LSP_Ray
Good work, Matt! Nice to see a pilot at the controls for a change, especially one that nicely done.
dennismcc
Nicely done, I am impressed with the cowling I don't think that I would be up for having a go at that, and the pilot figure looks great and will certainly add to the overall effect. Vynce804
A bit more progress to report, the NMF paint is now down. I used AK extreme metal aluminium and dark aluminium over a Tamiya black base. All worked out well and I'm happy with the finish. Ive completed the invasion stripes (that was ALOT of masking!) and the anti glare panel (tamiya x62 post shaded with xf62 cut with 20% dark yellow. i think i will put a very thin clear coat on next to protect what I've done before painting the markings which will be another first for me. can anyone recommend a Tamiya blue or blue mix for us insignia blue? cheers Matt Dragon, Iain, LSP_Kevin and 8 others
