themongoose
Love the mods you’re making. Great looking cockpit as well. That’s going to be a cool paint scheme BloorwestSiR
BloorwestSiR
Thanks folks! It's been fun making the small changes. There's still a couple more I need to make including the tailwheel fork. Meantime, I worked on the engine. The cylinder banks were painted with AK Extreme Metal Aluminum. I then masked them off for the grey crankcase. I repeated this with the pushrods. I drilled out and wired the ignition harness. Getting the holes centred was a bit of a pain. BloorwestSiR
Deciding that I should pay a bit more attention to the instructions, I noticed that I needed to assemble and paint the exhaust and intake stubs prior to joining the two cylinder banks together. Once dry, I installed them on the back of the front cylinder bank. The exhausts were installed onto the firewall at this time. BloorwestSiR
Now the fun began with the wiring. Upon installing the ignition harness and after checking several reference photos, I noticed that some of the wires thread through the metal cylinder head plates. Some go over and through, others under and through. It was a bit of a struggle to make sure I got them all oriented correctly. Here's the end results. BloorwestSiR
Thanks folks! Sorry for the lack of updates. The engine is finished and I started on installing the cowl flaps. Somehow I missed documenting the build but the fuselage got closed up and the central wing section installed. I didn't have any issues with either but this is my third Tamiya Corsair. The big issue now is the kit is buried on my bench under a bunch of stuff. We're redoing part of the basement so my bench has become a bit of a dumping ground for everything. This means I won't have able to work on it until the basement is done. Or at least a bit more back to normal. The good news is I'll finally have a dedicated paint bench. My stash is also getting reorganized so that'll make it easier to find things. We're about 2/3 of the way done. So hopefully soon I'll be able to continue with the Corsair. BloorwestSiR
Small update on my build. The outer wings are now assembled and on. I need to make a cover for the lower wing light as this was plated over. Hopefully I'll have more progress in my next post. dennismcc
That bench should really be in Aladdin's cave, lots of interesting bits on there. Cheers Dennis BloorwestSiR

Cheers Dennis Thanks guys! The new benches are done. Here's my old bench, reorganized and moved to it's new location. The Bronco Type XXIII model on there is just under 1 metre long. And here's the new paint bench. Alain Gadbois, MikeMaben, Uncarina and 6 others 8
