A little work done today: Some detail added to the starboard console

Per my references, there are some sizable braided sheath cables that enter this console. I tried some 0.040 diameter solder -it was too big. I ended up using 0.023 diameter copper.

To mimic the braid, I laid a good file at 45 degrees to the wire. Pressing down hard, I rolled the wire under the file .

It's tough to see in this photo, but I got some decent, but subtle texture on the wire. I then filled the file to 45 degrees in the opposite direction. Once installed, it looks like this. I'll give the wires a silver metallic finish, the a wash to show detail.

I think it's time to remove the fuselage half and tape the port side in place.

Props-  ejector pins AND sink holes in a single part. That's value!

Next up: port side console, then it's time to pull out the calipers and calculator for some IP work...

Great work, so far, Bill! Good to see someone who's not afraid to tackle this beast. I've got one, but I am afraid of it!

Thanks, Kevin. It's really not too bad so far - bit I'm not looking forward to the engine to exhaust collector ring tubes!

Looks great, Bill. Keep at it!

(And scratchbuild-on! I always say!)

Thanks, Shaka - but compared to some of what I see here, I'm just a hack!

Ignore him Bill, Shaka thinks scratchbuilding is silly.....he's a heretic! But I appreciate what you're doing! :) :)

This looks good, nice to see one being built, I started mine a long time ago and failed miserably, it's living in the loft now.

Cheers

What I say to Bill about scratch building doesn't apply to him, Max...Only YOU!

LOL.
