Pete Fleischmann Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 (edited) Hey All! Been messing with the Italeri Mirage IIIC. Building the first one as a bare-metal Israeli jet...Here is the re-built nose strut. I re-did the nose wheel as well; but I'll wait for Harolds, which is much better! A few parts are a little wonky and need to be re-aligned. Not done with this yet but getting there- Wow. The macro lens is brutal! The fit of the kit parts was not the best- Cheers Pete Edited December 21, 2015 by Pete Fleischmann mlcflhs, Marcel111, Whitey and 13 others 16

ericg Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Great work there. Nice to see that you have filled the spot where Italeri want you to install the lights! Eric. Iain 1

brahman104 Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Damn! That is mighty impressive Pete! Where did you find the tiny grease nipples? Did you make that whole strut from scratch? Craig

Hi Craig- most of the metal parts you see are simply tiny wristwatch parts, save for the nuts, which are model car items. This is just a tear-down and re-do of the kit strut. Eric- been watching your Mirage, and noticed you had filled the spot for the lights as well, which forced me to check my references, so thank you! ...and Harold, I did the nose wheel, but was hoping you would work your magic on it, so I'm ready to send you money when they are ready! I'd rather have yours- it is much nicer than my feeble attempt. ...and thank you all for the kind words- Cheers Pete Edited December 22, 2015 by Pete Fleischmann Harold 1
geedubelyer Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Holy moly Pete, that looks good. I think you're being a bit hard on yourself but then I've come to know the kind of standards you set yourself. FWIW, it does n't look any kind of feeble on my monitor. Hmm, watch parts you say? I think you're on to something. I wonder if there are catalogues out there that stock these kinds of parts? Where is Pierre (Madman) Greutert (sp?) when you need him? I believe he began making Swiss watches? If the rest of the Mirage matches this leg we are in for another treat. Top job bro'.
