Rainer Hoffmann
This is some seriously good stuff. Timmy! Those seat cushions really look freakin' convincing, even without paint. Then again, it's 1:12 scale... Now, I mean, everybody can do this in that scale, dont' you think... Just kidding, of course! Cheers Rainer
Timmy!
Definitely not a dead project. Believe it or not I think about this beast daily and fit in what work I can when I can. Here's a teaser of the latest work. And.... ....How about another video? Been a while. Not overly instructive really more demonstration and insight to the level of planning I'm undertaking. I moved a few months ago and have been without my CNC mill and 3D printer. But those are now up an running again and producing parts. I just completed some parts for the nose gear well, that should end the major construction of the nose assembly. Next step will be to mate the nose assembly to the next section aft that encompasses the section from the intakes to the forward bulkhead for main gear well. Several of those parts have been milled as well. Photo's to follow soon. Promise! Timmy! Lars Befring, TorbenD, Rdrunner and 3 others

Pete Fleischmann
Hey Timmy! Ok. First of all, the video is outstanding. You've seen the TV show "How it's Made"? This video is like that on Viagra. You have a really big brain my friend- and yes I'm sure you could use that big brain to figure out how to feed the planet, cold fusion, or something else that would be less cool than this, but I'm really glad you are focusing your superpower on the Jag project- because it simply makes me smile. Chek
Almost engineering porn Timmy! I'd happily view a whole series depicting how every part of the Jag (and other aircraft) work, The CAD animations with the multiple perspectives have a great clarity to them that definitely enhance understanding of the system operations. I'm sure your 1/12th scale Jag will be a wonder to behold with your standard of work, but few of us will ever actually get to see it in the flesh. The CAD views and animations however are inspiring in themselves for those who will never get to see your model.
Timmy!
Thanks fellas, always good to post stuff....it a motivator to keep going on the long term projects. Hey Timmy! Ok. Cheers Pete You flatter me! I agree endeavors for personal satisfaction are literally more satisfying than the satisfaction achived by satisfying others!! Almost engineering porn Timmy! Like you, I think the animation of aircraft systems are a joy to see. I'm very happy with the software change that provides the animation capability. As I mentioned in the video it's a great tool to know you have an accurate design. Especially important as I have never seen a Jag in person and had to design with whatever photos and documents I can find. Timmy!
Timmy!
Got a new part complete enough to share. The canopy frame Mk.2. This is a printed part with some styrene details added. There was a significant bit of work getting this part fitted to the fuse and cockpit sills. The canopy closes and "locks" over the cockpit seals and the canopy locks fit into receptacles on the cockpit sills. I'll post photo's of the that fitment once I have all the parts completed. The clear section is 0.040" vacuum formed acrylic. Exterior framing remains to be done as well as the hinges. With any luck this will be a operable assembly on the model. Timmy! P.S. I've re-posted these vids of the 16th scale version. Polishing techniques were used on this version too. dodgem37
Very nice work, Timmy! Matching an existing with another media in 2 tries, really good stuff. Great show. Sincerely, Mark
Timmy!
Here are a couple of follow up shots to demonstrate the fit. The canopy and sill details mesh together such that there is a press fit between the parts when the canopy is closed. There is still lots of skin and fairing bits to be added to take care of the obvious gaps.
