I was expecting some fitment issue...I am early into the assembly and wasn't disappointed.

Aires meet Reskit....Reskit, this is Aires. Please play nicely (nope)

As shown here the Reskit piece is a blonde hair to wide for the Aires gear bay. (I've added nothing but paint)

    My solution; saw off a mounting lug, drill and pin a plastic lug in it's place so I can fit the gear leg;

Oh, and I guess I got some dirt wash on too.

Some beautiful resin stuff available for this model, I hope these things continue!

    Thanks for looking

    Great solution. Loving the progress

All right, need some help from you guys, does anyone have any experience with thinning these paints?  I’ve tried Tamiya, MrHobby thinners and also just plain water. None of them have worked. I’ve tried airbrushing straight from the bottle and it also was to thick for spraying.  It’s bit perplexing with them…

I use mr leveling thinner works great

  3. Sweet, i have this in the stash too that calling my name. I love the f-14. Thats a good bunch of AM.

If you want to get rid of those duplicate gear legs lmk.

What are those grey intakes below the zacto ones?

Not a model - but something to hopefully improve my modelling.

For a while now, I've felt I need a better pair of sprue-cutters, so after reading a thread about it on this here forum, I went for one of these..

    It's a Dspiae and wasn't cheap!

But hopefully means I can snip items off the sprue more effectively.

I have one of these, love it, but be careful its fragile.

  5. Thats a good question, i would say stronger but less flexible is my general experience with resin vs plastic.

Love seing these anoucement after hunting and spending a ton on the aires package.

That being said i want that seamless intake, and im happy i can stop hunting for the zacto one. Going to start this build has soon as i have my hands on the new parts

I really dont get it, what is it exactly that has triggered 4 companies to produce kits for the same airframe (caveats apply) . The market for AH 64's surely cant be that that huge?

Anyhow, I've taken delivery of the Takom Guardian version and am extremely pleased with the quality of the kit. Im sure it will build into a perfectly passable Apache.

My gut feeling is telling me that someone is doing very deep measurement/analysis of specific airframe maybe even some cad work then selling this to multiple companies. To me this is the only explanation. We have had new F-4 in 1/48 all at once, new f-14, then new ah4, new p-51d ,mosquitos, ect

It got to be some ahared data somewhere making this happen
