Thanks for the compliment Troy. It does look a bit different from the usual Navy ones.

Hi Nick

I have the Techmo decals dedicated to the Iranian F 14 (but not only), and I am bit worried to hear that they are fragile, so I wondered if a layer of clear varnish prior to apply them, could avoid such disaster.....this cammo looks very nice .....unusual :clap2:

Hi Alain,

I think the decals will be ok for the roundels and flags. They only appear to come apart on the clear pieces between the letters.

I did a test for you on some of the unused part of the Techmod decals. I airbrushed Microscale Decal Maker and Tamiya acrylic X-22 onto the decals.

I painted decalmaker and X-22 some time ago wit a brush and the decals curled up an the edges , so this time it was airbrushed

The Liquid decal film was airbrushed without thinners and formed a white layer. (Maybe water can be used as a thinner.

After trimming and applying onto a piece of test plastic both worked fine with no cracking. The whiteness disappeared after a coat of X-22 onto both test pieces.

In the mean time a few parts were finished which will soon be on the model.

Well the wheels and wheel well doors are on. The detail is not the same as AM resin and the door attachments are a little over scale and does not have a lot of detail, but they are sturdy, strong and provide positive location. This is a compromise I can live with on a model of this weight and size.

Only the tailhook and the small light under the nose remain then the bottom is done. In the mean time the windshield was painted. Not the most logical demarcation of colours but that is what it shows on the photos.

I am doing the last detail building before assembly of all the parts, hopefully to finish on the weekend.

The ladder and steps on the Tamiya kit is accurate but not really detailed enough. I added strips and drilled lightning holes on the ladder.

And painted and weathered. Looks a bit better than the kit parts. Maybe someone can upgrade this with a 3D printed version.
