alain11
Hi Nick I have the Techmo decals dedicated to the Iranian F 14 (but not only), and I am bit worried to hear that they are fragile, so I wondered if a layer of clear varnish prior to apply them, could avoid such disaster.....this cammo looks very nice .....unusual Alain Troy Molitor and Cheetah11 1
Troy Molitor
Hey Nick, I usually skip the jet builds as not usually being in my wheel house, however it's so nice to see the F-14 in full camouflage. Wow. You are really doing this Iranian aircraft justice. Loving it. Thanks for sharing. Cheetah11
Cheetah11
Thanks for the compliment Troy. It does look a bit different from the usual Navy ones. They only appear to come apart on the clear pieces between the letters. I did a test for you on some of the unused part of the Techmod decals. I airbrushed Microscale Decal Maker and Tamiya acrylic X-22 onto the decals. I painted decalmaker and X-22 some time ago wit a brush and the decals curled up an the edges , so this time it was airbrushed The Liquid decal film was airbrushed without thinners and formed a white layer. (Maybe water can be used as a thinner. After trimming and applying onto a piece of test plastic both worked fine with no cracking. The whiteness disappeared after a coat of X-22 onto both test pieces. In the mean time a few parts were finished which will soon be on the model. Cheetah11
Well the wheels and wheel well doors are on. The detail is not the same as AM resin and the door attachments are a little over scale and does not have a lot of detail, but they are sturdy, strong and provide positive location. This is a compromise I can live with on a model of this weight and size. Only the tailhook and the small light under the nose remain then the bottom is done. In the mean time the windshield was painted. Not the most logical demarcation of colours but that is what it shows on the photos. mozart
All looks fine to me Nick, if you hadn't said anything I for one wouldn't have known about "oversize".

Cheetah11
Not much to show for the last two weeks. Almost all modelling time spent on the A-4 but I did managed to at least do both control sticks. The Tamiya ones are very basic so they needed a bit of detailing. Thank goodness for the RP Toolz punch set. Cheetah11
I am doing the last detail building before assembly of all the parts, hopefully to finish on the weekend. The ladder and steps on the Tamiya kit is accurate but not really detailed enough. I added strips and drilled lightning holes on the ladder. And painted and weathered. Looks a bit better than the kit parts. Maybe someone can upgrade this with a 3D printed version. Sheers Nick.
