building for the experience (my disclaimer that it probably will not be accurate to any true prototype) some rescribing, some detailing and a few "more detailed" parts will be added

I've ordered props and wheels

adding some "stuff" to the nose gear bay

and the nose gear, some wire, a bit of plastic rod and sheet here and there

I sanded the engine inserts until I could remove the webbing between the cylinders, not for any accurate engines but I like the look better than the cylinders sitting above the backing disc. Also re-profiled the props, which will eventually be replaced with resin units (already in the mail)

took a bit of time to remove the vents molded in the wings (replacing with p.e.)

thats all folks

Nice project, Chris! I have the Airfix boxing of the Super Connie with some upgrade parts from Paul Fisher. Where are your props and wheels coming from?

Hannants

 I had to buy a few things in order to get the free shipping….I really hate having to buy more models and parts:D ya right

Sorry, I should have been more clear! What brand/whose products are they?

No worries, English must be my second language…not sure what my first might be.

the manufacturer is listed as “Plus Model” in the Hannants cataloge

Nice! :speak_cool:

When you wabt to detail up your airliners then is HaHen from Germany something to be considered. Nice collection of resin AM and decals in different scales for everything the German Lufthansa airlines had. Useful for Connies, 707s , 747s, DC-4, -6, -7 of other airlines too.

Well, thanks to this thread, I've just pulled the trigger on an expensive stack of Constellation aftermarket! And I already had the Fisher engine and wheels sets...

Looking forward to the rest of your build, Chris.

Still moving ahead, test fitting shows the wings may cause a bit of work, I'll burn that bridge when I get to it.

I found some great pictures of a main landing gear bay, not wanting to get photo etch...I figure I'll add plastic sheet and shapes until it looks busy enough...not true and accurate but busy.

I started by jamming .005" sheet into the gear bay to cover the seams

oSASHKQ.jpg

made a gear bay "roof" from .010" sheet and Plastruct and Evergreen T and square rod

these will hopefully be gussets in the gear bay walls

aaannd drilled out and cut out the slots on the wheels just to see if I could and how would they look if I did

Thank you for the encouragement, makes this next bit easier...

I took depth measurements every "scale 3 feet" with an old carburetor float depth gauge (anybody remember carburetors??) to get the curve of the fuselage transferred those measurements to a sheet of .020" and built a floor, then seats.

It's an airliner, it needs seats...

Very nice work, Chris! Can we get a close-up of the seats? They look excellent. Oddly enough, there are aftermarket ones available now.

Kev

I saw the aftermarket resin seats, would've been nice back when I was building a vac. ATR kit and stretching the fuselage on a -8 but, oh well.

here's a couple of shots of a seat;

And staying on the slightly stupid side, building frames for the overhead bins;

and glued in

the ledges below the windows is to help support the floor
