Hi Guys,

This model was started a few years ago but resurrected and completed recently.  A typical short run kit, plastic shell with resin and etch details, not many alignment aids but that's all covered in the build on Works in Progress. Paints by MMP mostly applied with Mr Custom PS-770 0.18 airbrush, home made masks, Barracuda resin wheels, QuickBoost resin Revi16B gun sight and resin wing guns.  Albion Alloys micro brass tubing Pitot and cowling gun barrels.  Eduard colour etched seat belts, E-Z Line radio aerial wire, lots of little mods, fiddles, scratch built bits and lots of bodges!  the very last photo shows the undercarriage down lock indicator post on the wing.  Hope you like it.

Looks great! Is it me, or does that fuselage look even longer than an Fw190D-series?

Hi Jeroen,

The fuselage is longer but I’m not sure of the exact dimensions, probably about 550mm.  The wing has been moved forwards so it’s in the same relative position to the engine, so the extra length is between the engine firewall and the windscreen. The cockpit is still in the same place relative to the tail.  I think the extra length is needed to get the MG151 guns to fit on the cowling as they are quite long. Certainly makes a sleeker looking aircraft than the D series.

I did some more checking on the 190D/152C length difference and came up with the Fw190D-9 length at 10.18 metres, the Ta152C-1 at 10.75 metres. That’s an increase of 570mm, so my guess of 550mm wasn’t far off.

Thanks Bruce -glad my eyes aren't deceiving me yet! Definitely looks different. I did some DuckDuckGo-ing and found this aircraft had a DB603 engine -never realized that as well. :)
