Seems like I've started another one on top of all of the others  maybe I need some kind of help?

Well I think I need some time working on parts instead of painting. Sometimes I just get fed up with the airbrush.

So, I've been working on converting the Wingnut Wings Rumpler C.IV (Early) into a 'Kaiserliche Marine' floatplane fighter.

First up scratching floats for the build...

Top wing and lower replacement resin wings.

Fuselage cut up...

Shortened fuselage...

Fuselage put together again incl. the replacement Mercedes D.III engine.

Obviously I've been at it for a while...

I love this stuff!  Another WNW kit as a donor.  Gutsy man you are.
:clap2:

Thank you Rick, well it went allright the last time, so why not?

In my personal opinion the is Rumpler C.IV i s butt ugly, on the other hand the 6B it's one of the most beautiful fighters of WWI, but that's probably just me...

I completely agree, pity WnW's didn't release a kit, unlike the Rumpler I would have bought one, but then we wouldn't have seen such terrific work from you Kent.

Painting German Naval Hex pattern:

I wasn't sure it would be a success to use decals on the floats, because of the grooves, it would be difficult.

Well I didn't even try, I was afraid I would end up destroying my precious decals.

I got a far out idea, what would it take to paint the naval hex?

Some masking, but I thought it would be much more complicated than it actually turned out to be.

I only needed to cut one mask for the pattern of three colors.

First a base color greyish rosa, something...

Second color (first though the mask) a dark brownish color.

Last color, a blue grey color. And the mask moved one hexagon.

After a little retouching, the result is quite convincing.

There is definitely possibilities in this method, and the mask can be reused...

You make it look all so easy, Kent..

This was actually not that hard or time consuming, but I doubt I will be painting Lozenge patterns this way
