kkarlsen
I think it's time for me to take a break from the 'wood, wire & canvas' and work on something more 'streamlined'... Kent Iain, BradG, Rick Griewski and 3 others

NATO and Warsaw pact. Note the dates at which countries joined. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_War#/media/File:NATO_vs._Warsaw_(1949-1990).svg SEATO. September 1954 - June 1977 (member states only) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southeast_Asia_Treaty_Organization#/media/File:Map_of_SEATO_member_countries_-_en.svg CENTO. February 1955 - March 1979. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Pact#/media/File:Cento_zoom.svg So this could cover F-14's, F/A-18's, Navy F-4's, A-4/7.... chrish
Anyone know where I can get a 1/32 Tu 95? I guess it’s an Academy F 18 for me then. mpk and BradG
Dave Williams
A couple of questions. Does France count for the whole Cold War period? They dropped out of the unified command structure in 1966 and didn’t return until long after the Cold War ended. Is any aircraft by any member allowed, no matter where they were based, or just those based in the countries that are part of the organizations? For example, could you do a Vietnam war F-4, or is it limited to F-4s based in NATO states? mpk and dmthamade

They don't need to be based in that country or in a NATO country, just from that country so if you wanted to do an F-4 in Vietnam, that's fine. mpk and dmthamade

It does require a touch more thought about what you will build, but all the links are here and will be in the rules of the road section. Pick a jet aircraft from one of the countries involved in the 4 pacts (NATO, Warsaw, SEATO, CENTO) during the time they were joined up (not everyone joined NATO at the same time for example) and away you go. Dave Williams
Lots of choices, but a tough call for me on what to choose. Need to get some build mojo going, but don’t want to start something that I’m going to just get frustrated with later and toss on the SOD. Definitely interested in a Mirage IIIC or RD, but might turn into a frustrating build. Also have the KH F-86K, which might be less frustrating with fit, but somewhat less interested in that. Rick Griewski
A common model builders dilemma for sure. I may do a MiG 21. I checked for builds on the web and I am pretty satisfied that any vices with the Trumpeter kit are minimal or acceptable to me. Iain
The Mirage kits capture the look very well Dave - but, having built two now - be prepared for a fair amount of test fitting, filling and re-shaping of parts - they aren't shake and bake...
