Revell 1/32 F4U-1 Corsair

Recommended Posts

Dad gave me this kit when he was cleaning out his study. The fuselage was unfortunately wrecked, but thanks to Kagemusha, who was able to supply me a fuselage he didn't need. I'll be building the kit for my old man, not sure on colourscheme yet, probably build it with the wings folded too.

Not a bad kit, I remember building a couple of them in the 90's and enjoyed the experience, not Tamiya but you have to remember that they are 70's technology.

Cheers

Best decide to build it with fixed wings folded or straight.

Folding the wings a few times will break the parts

I won the Verlinden cockpit in the Christmas raffle. So this one is also on my list

A trip down memory lane.. I remember this kit from my childhood.  I remember the blue color of the plastic.

And those great box arts from the 70's !

I would encourage a wings down build, the wing rib area etc is wrong as there would be no room for the guns LOL

That said my last one was wings folded lol.

You can do a lot with this bird, or you can go OOB and just enjoy the nostalgia

Yes!  Revell had fantastic box art for their 1/32 aircraft kits in that time period.

Built this one when I was about 13, way way back: looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.  These old kits can scrub up quite nicely.

I've managed to make a start after finishing up cricket for the year...lost the Grand Final...oh well. The interior is pretty sparse, so I've pulled a pilot figure from the stash to stick in there and take up some room. I've decided to build an El Salvadorian  aircraft from the 100 Hours War, otherwise known as the Soccer War. They were FG-1's, but it's close enough. I don't have any rocket rails but at least one was fitted with bombs.
