Time to make an update !

I finished repainting the "no step" lines and it's definitely better than the decal.

I also have to rebuild the stepladder as the kit one did not survived the cutting / cleaning operation. Anyway i think it's better this way than the plastic part.

I detailed the canopy, adding some pipes to make the defog system and a few wires (it's very dirty there, as i still have not cleaned it of the wash) :

And here it is done :

Dry fit of the seat :

I also wanted to try something new to make the weld lines around the wing tanks. I masked it, letting just a thin line, and added some Mr Surfacer. Then when it was dry (more than 24 as it was pretty thick) i sanded it with a sanding stick. The line is a bit think in my opinion, but it's not too bad.

And what it looks like once painted :

I finished the rocket tray, too. I painted the tips of the rockets in blue, as i think most of the time training rockets were in use :

The wheel bays OOB (very nicely detailed for an IP kit in my opinion) :

I've almost finished the landing gear legs, too.

I added the pipes and wires :

  • 2 weeks later...

It's done !

Wow it was way longer than i thought when i started it... It was a fun build, with a few challenging steps. Not easy, but quite rewarding, and the details are damn good for an injected plastic kit. It's out of the box except the seat belts which are fabric belts from Eduard/HGW.

As usual, the last steps were the hardest and the longest (and i must say : the most boring thing in the world.... I hate this last step when you have to glue all these tiny parts, and either the glue doesn't glue, or either there is too much glue and it damages the paint around...).

I'm happy to see it finished as now i can jump on something else. :)

I'll try to take pictures for the RFI forum this weekend.

Hope you like it !

Beautiful job!!

You are a lot braver than me 'cos I made some intake and exhaust blanks rather than 'deal' with all that over engineering! I fought this one all the way to conclusion so it's gratifying to see that the problems I encountered are common place and it's not just down to my 'finger trouble'!!

Will we be lucky enough to see this beauty at Telford this year?

Bravo on your superb modelling skills.

Regards,

Steve S.
