kkarlsen
Some shots of the diorama work... Diorama base: 60 x 60 cm board + 10mm polystyrol... Embankments from the debris clearing the stands on two of the edges... Everything is covered with a thin layer of modelling clay DAS/FIMO. To create the surface, fine 'bird sand' and cat litter is used, glued down with thinned white glue. Wheels from different vehicles and aircraft tyres is used to make tracks + footprints, a lot of footprints! I decided to make a dirt road in the corner... F`s are my favs
I`m not quite into the prop planes and i don`t understand quite much about these planes, but this is perhaps the best combo of a historical plane/diorama i `ve ever seen! Congrats! And the sign is very good! Applause! Milan kkarlsen

kkarlsen
Canopy and nose glass finished... Nose hatch removed + opening of the cockpit side windows... Wasn't impressed with the Eduard escape hatch, so a scratchbuild one to resemble the real thing a bit closer... kkarlsen
Thanks Gent's - Appreciate it! I will try to describe the workflow as best I can... (Allthough this is the first time I have ventured this far with any of these procedures) And your right 'Out2gtcha' I really am not going for nice or clean, more in the direction of authenticity... The story why these 'birds' being delivered in all natural metal finish, and then being painted 'insitu' in a rush without primer, is quite a tragic one. It's because of a surprise German air raid of their base at Alesani, Corsica on 13 May 1944. Estimated losses were approximately 60 B-25 Mitchell aircraft. Very rare color footage from the days after the raid.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb918gG0bFA Masking of the canopy frames: I've tried different masking system, Montex, Maketar etc. but they all seem to leave some residue from the adhesive, that can be very hard to clean afterwards after painting, without also removing some of the paint... So I used the masking sets only as a guide and cut my own from Tamiya masking tape... (no residue) Voila! (The masking sets are not completely accurate so you have to correct it anyways) If you have some paint bleeding through, try using wooden cocktail sticks to clean the edges... First I sprayed the frames with Humbrol enamel interior green/bronze green (my own mixture) then build up the natural metal with several layers of Alclad... Fuel stains: Dark wash (MIG Ammo) diluted ½ with white spirit + 1 drop of Fresh engine oil (MIG Ammo) small drops are placed around were you want the effect, and then I used the Airbrush, blowing only air and with a lot of pressure! In the beginning I was afraid that I could not control it, but it's not that difficult. Maybe practice with som very diluted Dark Wash without the Fresh engine oil, to see how it behaves? P.S. The B-25's were infamous in their large consumption, and leaking of engine oil... Kent Edited June 9, 2016 by kkarlsen kvlazer22
