gunpowder reacted to Oldbaldguy in RIP HM Queen Elizabeth II
The older I get, the less I like any kind of change. I don’t like this one at all.

Yeah i bring this up everytime we talk about the next airfix 1/24
1 we need a new tool seafury with folding wings
2 1/24 kits with their size really benefit from folding wings, got the f6f for that reason and i havent built my 2 typhoon cuz no space to display atm

I paid a lot, but then there are not many around for sale and we all know what happened to Paul Fishers property/business a few years back. So, expensive, yes, but will we see another kit anytime soon??
Personally, I think Airfix should give us one in 1/24 scale along the lines of the Typhoon and Hellcat.

I still hope that the nose-only kit gets released. The full Lanc is too big for my space restrictions, but the nose-only will fit perfectly in the case.

All these planned AM bits for an already massively expensive kit just makes me laugh. Thought this kit was supposed to be perfection itself.

Yeah that was very sad news to wake up to. Seemed like a really fun Guy too. I feel for his family and Dave Grohl , first Kurt now Taylor

That is sad news. I have had a few items , and they kindly donated to my charity Spitfire build a few years ago.
Good luck chaps

gunpowder reacted to Pascal in Airfix announcement - 1/24 Spitfire
Hmm, comparing a 1/32 Tamiya spit with a 1/24 Airfix spit........
I prefer the Airfix spit, and if that's what I want the wife supports me 100 % and the kids too (I'm reading The Right Stuff, so pardon my John Glenn phrase)
Why ?
Well a Spitfire is British and Airfix is also British.
Not that I believe that a Japanese kit manufacturer can't make a superb Spitfire kit...
But if I buy a BMW car, I want it to be German. Designed in Germany and made in Germany.
So, for the Spitfire : I want it to be British, made in Great Britain and sold by a British company.
Like many modellers I grew up with Airfix and any "British-related" kit, screams Airfix to me.
I mean Airfix, yes AIRFIX ! . Just saying it brings a smile to my face. It also reminds me of James "captain slow" May, another smile to my face.
Even if the 1/24 Airfix spit will look like a big scale Revell Spitsfire, I would still buy one, because it's AIRFIX.
Nostalgia, memories from my youth building all those Airfix kits....
Those things are far more important to me then the next perfect kit from Tamigawa.
Basically : 1 large pint of bitter, Rule Britania playing on the background and a big 1/24 AIRFIX spit in front of me.
That's not just nostalgia or memories from my youth, it's modelling heaven.
Thank you AIRFIX for over 40 years of pure joy.
Just my 2 cents ...

Looks great. Im not a huge fan of the stressed skin. The interior is amazing , but having built the HK kit , much of it is wasted as it wont be seen. Not for me , but im sure it will be a must have for some. The seatbelt detail is great , i wish more manufacturers would do it.

I don't have the HKM kit, nor would I get the WnW kit, but if I had to choose , I would go with HKM. Why? I used to be impressed with kits that have an insane parts count, but, at this point in my life simplicity is starting to win out over mega detail. It also increases the likelihood that I'd have more than 2 finished kits on my shelf before I check out.
