fastzx got a reaction from Vandy 1 VX 4 in LSP main page - why stop at 2011?
How about a featured Ready For Inspection member model of the month chosen by LSP staff? That would keep decision making about choice to those who have our best interests at heart. It would also bring to the forefront one of the best visual interests of this site "finished models". It would keep the site home page fresh and current. It also would not require the frequency of whats new section (dont lose that though). Just a suggestion.

    Nice work.
This build lends itself well to your armor weathering method.
    Great to see this.

    Hope you enjoy them.

The builds of both models can be found here on the site.

P.S.  I will be doing the Bf 109f from this same company and the companion injected molded kit from Hasegawa (Priller's aircraft), but not right away.  As much as I love these cutaways, I need a break!!

Hope you like it, this was my 2. attempt in building 1:32 planes. Did a few mistakes, especially with the washes and Decals (Micro Sol had no real effect on them..) but the result looks okay.

For my next IJA or IJN plane i will try HS or salt chipping... i hope it will look mor realistic.

    Hiya Folks,

                   Me again,......but the last one for a while! This is another one which has been underway for a while but I`ve finally got around to finishing it and it was a very nice kit to build, it just needed a bit of fettling along the way. Markings are mostly from the kit but the roundels and fin flashes are from the spares box as the colours in kit ones were a bit bright, and unfortunately the crown on the 33 Sqn badge on the fin is a current Queens crown rather than the correct Kings crown from the late 1940`s! As I have a soft spot for 33 Sqn (they put me forward for an award while serving with them in Turkey!) the model represents SN213/ 5R-S from this unit when it formed part of the post war British Air Forces of Occupation (BAFO) in Germany, Although the kit includes highly accurate drop tanks with clear fairings I left these off the model as these were not present on my reference photo of the real thing. Anyway here is the model;

The main silver paintwork was from a Tamiya rattle can but the rest was brush painted with Xtradecal WW2 Roundel Blue for the spinner and Polly Scale matt varnish added to the silver to better represent worn RAF High Speed Silver which was applied over the original grey/green finish. The only addition to the basic model was the use of Barracuda Cast resin post war Tempest wheels which had the distinctive block tread. I can now move on to my part built PCM Hurricane Mk.I which will have a Vokes filter,....probably a Malta aircraft but who knows??

    Hope you like it,

    Cheers

In the spirit of this Group Build It is important to me and I think others want to try to get projects as close to Historically accurate so as to honor the men and women who  serviced and flew and gave their lives during this period of History. This is why I have tried to do my research and get as close as possible to the actual aircraft. I will do my best to do that.

    Here are my two Trumpeter P-51B's: Dominic Gentile's P-51B-05 43-6913 'Shangri-La' and Ralph Hofer's P-51B-15 42-106924 'Salem Representative'

To tell you the truth, if I hadn't had a build thread over on Works in Progress, I would probably not have shown these - that's how disappointed I am. They fought me right until the end and I am far from happy with the result. Perhaps it's because I was really really proud of the previous build, but these are just not very good. I had a huge amount of paint troubles, including the bottom of 'Shangri-La' boiling up not once, but twice and there are still rough spots all over. On 'Salem Representative' the gloss coat lifted in a number of places resulting in a not so nice finish. So in the end it was just a matter of 'finish the damn things and move on'.

2 down, 19 to go refer to a post I made a short while ago. I found that I had 20 builds in progress and committed to finishing a lot before I start a new one. I discovered another build I'd forgotten so its 2 down 19 to go...

    Ok. Shangri-La

Anyway... did some work on the black 13 tactical marking. Checking carefully the photos of the original Gustav revealed that the numbers are of a different style/font and location. The Flugzeugmaler did a mediocre job ...
I made a first set of black 13s from paper. they need some minor adjustment. Bye!

    Hi,

couldn´t resist to start weathering on my Gustav. Added a first wash to the upper wings and tried to do a crackeld paint job on the Balkenkreuz which can be seen on some photos of war time 109s ... Hope you´ll like it! :-)

Well after just about a week she is done, although not quite as detailed as the 1/12 Tamiya kits straight out the box I have to say that as the build went along I became more impressed with the quality.
I certainly will be adding a few more of these 1/9 Revell kits to the collection, decals were a challenge, I was expecting this but lots of patience and Microset/sol got the job done.
