I was thinking about a Grumman Goose yesterday, after seeing a 1:48 review online.  Lot of options there.

Yep, don't care too much about new tooled existing kits, but your list for the others is appealing, specially the Saab family, and not only the Draken, but also Viggen and a new Gripen.........

This thread has gone completely off the wall, but the "babes at a pool party" suggestion will definitely come out from Master Box. They will be in 1/35 scale, so we will hear lots of complaints that they aren't "large enough", and "won't fit next to my airplanes". To this I say "Brickworks", who give you figures in 1/20 scale. However, logic says "why would they be next to your airplanes?" ... we are "big boys who still play with toys", so deal with that.

If we are suggesting what Tamiya would actually do, it has to be WWII, and it has to be Pacific Theatre and it has to be consistent with their short attention span. That means no follow on with any logic to their previous releases.... no Rufe, no P-51B, not even a Corsair or Spitfire type. I might hope for a "Dogfight Double" with an Alf or a Pete and a Martin B-10B with float options in Dutch colors, but that hope is as vain as for a full series of Tunnan, Lansen, Draken, Viggen and Gripen, in all versions including two seaters, recon, and fighters, early and late. Oh and a Saab 105 as well.

Like I said earlier, it's a P-47, but severe arm twisting could make me say P-38. Either one would be beautiful and have tens of interesting color schemes already printed as decals.

The short run never built Luft. 46 stuff will sell whether or not it actually was built. I like that 1078B double fuselage a lot, but doubt it left the napkin it was drawn upon.

I'd be interested in all of those, but the real ones would be very nice too. There aren't any X-Plane besides the X-15's and the first X-1. How about the rest and the lifting bodies or the Goblin XF-85? Don't forget the X-20 Dyna-soar. Most are small enough to be easier to sell.

Antoinette plus the Magnificent Men set and a Taube would get my cash for sure. They are all likely scratch build material. Just imagine a Phillip's Multiplane or the early Schneider Racers with those. OK, not going to happen, but I can dream, can't I?

My long past ancestors lived in Barnstable, MA (USA) but left for the west 170 years ago. Even so, you never know who will love a Tamiya release. They are very fine kits but not likely a kid's first model.

My bet is still on a P-47, but I want a series of Saabs. I'll add my dollars to those kroner. Just not too realistic of a wish, unfortunately.

Well, it happens that there was an aircraft model inside too  Funny! It's the white one:

Looks like a czech made Letov/Smolik S-2 or SM-1. Eduards 109 is just for size comparision. For our american fellows: The biplane has just the size of a Hellcat. Fat boy. The cat, not the Letov

Got it second hand from the bay. Not really cheap, but more reasonable priced

    Hello,

and the next one.... the wonderful Chevrolet Fleetmaster Coupé in scale 1/25 by Galaxie LImited Models. A wonderful detailed kit, hard to find in Germany  yet...

The kit consists of lot of parts on white sprues ... very detailed engine (so many parts only for the engine, very fine parts with smallest details on it), some chrome parts, clear parts, clear red lights, 3-piece body, frame and floor.
The engine invites to add some wiring .... let's see if I will do so.... I prefer closing the engine hood, but maybe it would be interesting to add some wirings here.

Some first pictures of the body parts... after having sanded some seams on it ...

The engine .... added all parts of the kit now... ready for painting .... or ready for wiring ....  Some thin tweezers are necessary to add all these small parts without damaging it.... and it is not so easy to hold the engine with all these small stuff ....

Very cool kit Micha! I wish I had picked up this kit myself when I saw it a few years ago. I have the sedan delivery version of this model.

The one thing I noticed on your engine is that the road draft tube is misaligned. I'm referring to the large tube that points down on the right front side of the engine. It essentially drew crankcase gases out of the engine while the vehicle was driven. Oh, you're going to have to reposition the starter motor too.

Go ahead and add the wiring, it's not too difficult and really enhances the look of the engine when done. Here's a few pics of mine.

Not trying to highjack your thread, just thought I'd give you some inspiration.

Hey guys! These are a couple of build from a while ago, and I am working on the photography thing. Props are not my main focus in the hobby but I still build plenty of them. They are just not as "involved" as one of my jst builds would be...a welcome break at times. I hope you are having a good weekend!

Tnarg reacted to DougN in Revell/Hasegawa Spitfire Mk I
Here is my "Edgar Brooks Tribute" Spitfire.  I was unfortunately more than 25% done when it started, and since my camera is broken, I didn't get any in progress photos, but I wanted to honor the man nonetheless as I always enjoyed his posts.

For my build, I chose the old-ish Revell/Hasegawa Spitfire Mk I/II kit, as I like the shape much better than the new Revell kit, which looks too fat and bloated in the forward fuselage/cockpit area for my personal tastes (not that I can't be made into a nice model).  I rescribed the fuselage (the wings are already engraved), added the outstanding Yahu IP, a resin seat/and exhaust (from Quickboost IIRC), and a few scratch built things like brake lines, some small bits and pieces here and there.  I also had to modify the aerial mast to add the triangle shaped "prong" that is required for an airframe with an aerial wire.  The Eagle-cal decals performed beautifully, and I used Mr Color paints throughout.

I wanted to build a 610 squadron Spitfire for some time, as I've always loved the old Revell kit boxart with DW-K on it.  There were at least 3 different DW-Q airframes during the BoB, so rather than the one suggested by Eagle-cals with the black/white underside, I wanted to model R6891.  This aircraft arrived at the squadron on 11 August 1940, and was flown by Sgt (later Wing Cmdr) Hamlyn when he scored 5 kills in one day 2 weeks later on 24 August 1940.  As the aircraft was obviously new at the time of Hamlyn's 5 kill day, I kept weathering to a minimum.

Here are some pics I took with my iPad (as the camera is still broken):

    Hi all,
It's my first model post on this forum and as you can see from my signature, I've been interested in aircraft for quite awhile.
Anyway, continuing with my growing collection of WW1 aircraft, here's the latest. It represents the Sopwith Snipe, Serial No: E8069, of ‘B' Flight, No.4 Squadron, Australian Flying Corps (AFC) in 1918.  It was flown by 2nd Lieutenant Thomas Charles Richmond Baker (12 victories), DFC, MM and bar. He was shot down and killed on the 4th of November 1918, aged 21, just a matter of days before the end of the war.  In February 1919, he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
    ·         Manufacturer:  Wingnut Wings.
    ·         Scale: 1/32
    ·         Type: Sopwith Snipe (early)
    ·         Paints/Weathering:  Tamiya (by brush and Airbrushed), Flory clay washes and AK weathering washes.
    ·         Aftermarket: HGW seat belts, Master guns, figures from Kellerkind and Wings cockpit figures, propeller (hand made by Doug Craner), ground accessories from Historex and ground cover from Scenic grass mats (plus stones from my garden).
    ·         Rigging:  Adjusters for all flying wires (not turnbuckles - made from micro nickel/silver tube and RB motion nuts) with monofilament for the wires (coloured with silver ink pen).  All control wires at the tail were micro-tube with GasPatch turnbuckles.
    ·         Scratch built:  Supports for the guns boresight.
    ·         Display case and plaque made by on-line specialists.
My next build will be the Wingnut Wings 1:32 scale Roland C.IIa ‘Walfisch' (late version).

Ask a 100 modellers and you will likely get 100 different replies! I don't make Luftwaffe subjects, never will, but they are extremely popular. There are all the missing Century series fighters, F101, F102, F106, earlier types F89, CF100, all of which would make terrific models.

I'd release something you are passionate about, that will shine through in your production, and hopefully enough customers will head your way to make it worthwhile.  If you can emulate the best, Silver Wings, Iconicair, Fisher and their ilk, you won't go far wrong.

    Tnarg,

One of the reasons I ask is because I like them all...I like the research, I like the design challenge, I like creating scale models and not just 1/32 scale and not just aircraft. I have scratch-built ships, figures, trains, cars, armor and planes along with a broad range of accessories over the years...some just one-off for myself or commissioned and some produced and sold. I have equipment for production of metal, both centrifugal and investment cast, pressure and vacuum, RTV, investment or vulcanized mold making, resin casting, fiberglass work, etc and so on.

Years ago, I produced kits or components for Liberty Model, Imperial Hobby, Tom's Modelworks, Fisher, Copper State, Squadron and many others. I got away from the scale model business for personal reasons, completed a career in Federal law enforcement and retired from that not too long ago, but my passion has always been creating scale miniatures so I am hoping to get back in the game and produce things commercially once again under my own label. Several items are already under development !

    Joe
