David66 reacted to monthebiff in Question for those who have built the 1/32 Tamiya Corsairs
Ah yes, I had exactly the same problem which is self inflicted by not reading the instructions correctly. The spar section in the outer wing sandwich needs to be fitted with no glue so its loose and then the wing will slide on correctly. My only option was to carefully sand the main spar down until the wing fitted. Hope that helps.

First rule of Tamiya.. if it doesn't fit , you've done  something wrong.. a little tongue in cheek , but there is an element of truth  there

Since most of this forum lately consists of threads about what HK, Tamiya or WNW's next kit will be, I feel the need to table my favorite subject.   As an ex-grunt, this one is definitely near and dear to me.

Imagine a 32nd scale Black Hornet!     In this large scale, the detail would really pop.  I know it's a bit out of the mainstream but done right, with new tool slidemolds, PE, etc, this kit would be a winner.

I agree, I think KHM has been unfairly treated in a lot of ways. Yes, some of their kits are bad. Some are actually great, and some are great with some minor "oddities" or strange engineering choices, but I think most anyone who has the right attitude and some average modeling skills going in, can make a winner out of a lot of KHMs recent releases.

@crobinsonh thank you for your kind words.
I always found that Kitty Hawk has been unjustly treated in certain quarters of the internet. KH bashing has even become a current trend in some forums.
Despite the glitches, KH kits offer a great potential for super-detailing and conversion.

I still think Kitty Hawk might make a 1/32 Grumman Duck one day, which will float a lot of boats, er... airplanes.

The Streak and Flash should generate a lot of great AM decals. And resin AM accessories: need to get one of those dinky starter units from Videoaviation.

I, for one, am looking forward to the F-84 series in 1:32 scale. As Brian states in his post it is hard for me to get excited for anything smaller. Building exclusively 1:32 for the last 10 years I will never go back to anything smaller. 1:32 scale "grabs" me, smaller scales do not. And let's face it, for my 60 something eyes and fingers this scale is easier than any other.

As for some lamenting Kittyhawk models in general ( I get it), I choose a  a different viewpoint. Kittyhawk has chosen to produce models that I want to model in my chosen scale. I can't wait to get have one in my hands.

You could sell me the world's first perfect model and I would probably muck it up. I will gladly purchase an imperfect model and do my best to improve it and make it mine. That is how I approach modelling.  I know others have different views, whatever floats your boat, er..... airplane.

I've been saying for years that Tamiya should issue a new 1/48 series "Century Series Jets in Japan". Then we'd get a decent RF-101C, F-102A and F-105D/F which the Chinese can pantograph to 1/32.

I'm in for the Kitty Hawk Streak and Flash regardless. Satisfying 1/32 heft. I can't take smaller scale kits of those subjects remotely seriously any longer,

To give some of the readers some background on the work that has been done for the next KH kits. A small group formed end of 2013 to look at the available F-84F and RF-84F kits. The focus first turned on the Streak and specialists Bruce and Harold were able to come up with a lot - and I mean a lot - of great info on the jet (photos, measurements, panel lines corrections). Luuk Boerman and I did the same from the other side of the pond and collected our materials. Fate also had it that I was able to get into touch with an architect / aviationist who has almost unlimited access to the Danish airforce jets. He was able to come up with the proper drawings (so, the R. Caruna ones are now obsolete). I know for a fact that reps of KH travelled to Denmark to see the Flash with their own eyes.
All the information gathered for KH was stored and first other kits would be issued in order to improve and further learn about the proper 3d CAD processes (we speak of 2013-2014, so quite a few kits have now been issued and quality has improved). The Mirages will be the next in line and the chopper series (Blackhawk, little bird, Huey, etc).
Given that KH asked the group to come alive again, we shall gather additional information to try to make sure the kits will be the best to date by KH. Glen is a huge fan of the Streak / Flash (and so are we in the group) so he wants to get it right. The Flash is first, the Streak follows thereafter. I myself shall go with a small group to the Brussels museum to make additional walk-arounds for the project, so stay tuned...and criticism is fine as long as it is constructive.

Now would be a really good time to drop a P-51B if they were developing one.  HK needs a single engine kit that they can sell in higher volume.  All of their releases so far have been a relatively narrow market.  They could use a large market high demand kit that would make them money for a long time.

I believe the B-25, -26; A-26 were classified as medium bombers. The A-20 was our main light bomber - fortunately it is in process to be an injected kit in our scale.

Speaking of Marauders, how about a 4 engine version?

They are expensive because they are not "resin" parts as such. These are 3D-printed parts and you are getting them straight from the printer. In actual fact, these would be impossible to copy in resin. There are too many undercuts, too many fine parts that will simply not cast in resin.
