Welcome back chuck!
Love the display case.
Your right about all the amazing reskit stuff it looks amazing, i still have some classic AM and its still relevant i think, especially with your skill set.

It is a bit of a square box when it comes to size but it is actually not that big. In 1/32 It would be just over 70 cm long but also with a 70 cm wingspan.(approx.)
But if we want to go large I would hope that we one day see an E-2C Hawkeye. That would be a cool 1/32 model
/N
Oh e-2C that would be crazy, would be even smaller with the wings folded right ?

For me the folding tail really hits a sweet spot, i will gk out of my way to build something with folding wings, folding wings and a tail im in. That being said i never build the 1/48 because of the lack of folding parts, same goes for v-22 and many others

I'm a bit in doubt on this one... I think it's a neat aircraft that's about the size of the A-6, but having both side by side in 1/72 I can say as stated the wings are a lot longer, but it also has much more presence, or bulk, to it.
I hope they are, shall we say, "inspired" by the right kits, as most of their better kits seem to be like this (A-4, F-8, Me262)... Except perhaps the A-6, that doesn't look to have a relation to existing kits. I hope it's closer to the A-6 than the F6F! Fingers crossed on that...
I also think it's a bit of an odd choice though, in 1/72 or 1/48 you hardly see any S-3 being built and the Hasegawa and Airfix kits are seldom re-issued. This may have something to with that, unlike the S-2, the S-3 was only used by the US Navy, contrary to the S-2 that saw a lot of exports all over the world.
The A-6 is a great kit, but how often do you see one being built? The A-6 also seems to have come down massively in price, too (used to be €200, can be found for ~€120 in shops new for the A-6A, the A-6E is even cheaper at ~€90). But I guess Trumpeters tea leaves are hard to read anyway, they just do as they do.
Here's my 1/72 one for a bit of inspiration, if I do get one it'll be like this, in the early factory scheme with the white bit behind the cockpit:
(Hasegawa kit with kit decals, I tried using CAM ones but they were dreadful: transparent and massively oversize even though they were designed for the Hasegawa kit)
I'll await some plastic and reviews first, then make up my mind As I wrote, I do like the S-3!
Cool shot just for the coolness of it
I think Reskit makes the refueling pod.
Jeroen
The 1/48 kits available are old and not amazing, require a ton of am including wing and tail fold. Same goes for the V-22 1 kit is there but its super old.
Kinda the same way we were not seing more Hasegawa F-14's on the market or being built, but now that we hane AMK, tamiya and GWH tons are being built

Hopefully kit manufacturers never base their actual release policy on forum discussions...
If they did we would be swimming in 1/32 P-51B

Up until recently i would say we have the amazing Airfix one in 1/24 making the big mouth HUGE.
But ive recently started the car door version and i have to say the casting is utter ****, there is not one single part that dosent need heavy cleanup, feels like those old revell kits with flash and seam lines.
Dont get me wrong once you spent hours cleaning the parts the detail and the fit is great, but its a mojo killer
I have 2 of these and the first one has a chance of becoming my second shelf queen right next to the revell p-51d. The secon will most likely be sold.
Hopefully we get a nice 1/32 one day in car door version

No - That is not what I wrote
The Viking will measure 65,4 cm wings unfolded compared to the Intruder which has an unfolded wingspan of 50 cm in 1/32
Ohhh my bad i miss read, missed the 23xcm in the ()
That make more sence thanks, need to get some glasses

where im more curious is on the subject, Revell made the he111 its been super hard to buy but I have only seen a handful built. the question is revelI quit producing them because of poor sale ?
I really like this plane but not enough to commit to 1/32 or 1/35 i would maybe do a 1/48. i will keep that kind of shelf space for b-25 or b-17
I'm not going to tackle the 1/32 vs 1/35, for me tbh i want my display case to reflect proportions, so I'm committed to keeping a common scale, 1/48 and 1/32. the only exceptions are Bandai Star Wars since you can compare a Millennium Falcon to a f-16 or a AT-AT to a german tiger, although i would defiantly buy large scale Star Wars kits if they didn't cost more than my mortgage payments
edit:
Scale rant based on my above reply, I'm building a AT-ST atm, and its the Bandai 1/48 and I'm actually salty that it not the same scale as my At-AT for the same reason i wont buy 1/35

In 1/32 the S-3B Viking is
50,8 cm long
65,4 cm wide (28,1 cm wings folded)
21,7 cm tall (15,6 cm tail folded)
The A-6E is 53 cm long and 50 cm wide ( wings unfolded) in 1/32
..if you don't work in the metric system, we'll, it's about time
/Niels
Wait what, s3 folded 65.4cm and a6 UN folded is 50cm are you sure? That sounds like a major difference

size wise looks close to an a6 on that pic
