JayW Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 So quite a while ago Future became Pledge, as I understand it. Specifically "Pledge Floor Care with Future Shine." Can anyone find this stuff without paying an arm and a leg for it? And if not, what are alternatives being used by modelers today?

monthebiff Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Interesting Woody, so are you dipping tour canopies in the alclad stuff just as you would future? Regards. Andy JayW and Troy Molitor 2
Whitey Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 Use it on your floors and not your models. MikeC, Dave J, CraigC and 1 other 4

TankBuster Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) You can dip it or spray it on. Cheers. Edited February 21 by TankBuster Droopy 1
MikeC Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I find Tamiya X22 perfectly adequate for my purposes. As for dipping, what's wrong with a polish? Just a small dab of Micro Gloss abrasive polishing compound and polish it out with a cotton bud or fine cloth. Back in the day, toothpaste was an accepted polishing compound, and it did work.
LSP_Ray Posted March 2 Posted March 2 Polishing is just fine for improving clarity, but one benefit of dipping canopies in Future was that it provided a protective layer. If you goofed with painting, cleaning with an ammonia cleaner would remove the Future and most problems and you could start over. It also seemed to keep fogging by superglue fumes off the canopy. I just tried a new floor finish product, "Quick Shine Multi-Surface Floor Finish" by Holloway House. It looks a bit cloudy when poured into a cup, but looks clear and glossy when dry. Canopies I dipped look just like Future-dipped ones. I do NOT use it for a gloss coat. I use regular paint products for that. Droopy, JayW and chukw 2 1
Thunnus Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I also use Future to treat my clear parts after polishing. I find that Future hides all of the micro scratches and swirls that I cannot seem to get rid of during the polishing step. The additional coating to protect from CA blooming is a plus. I will look into the Holloway House Quick Shine as my supply of Future is getting low. LSP_Ray and JayW 2
