  1. There is something refreshing about the low part count. It’s ready for painting soon!!
  2. A little progress. Just about to button up the fuselage. The edge of stabiliser moulding is rubbish. Just a blob. I gave it a somewhat better shape. I think its better to fill the detail moulding as it doesn't resemble the actual mechanism. I am actually quite impressed with the the details otherwise. The fit is actually very good. The plastic is very nice to work with. It's a little harder than the current Revell material, it is easy to shape without being too soft. You can see the bottom fuselage seam in the background. Not sure how that's going to work out without losing the raised rivet detail.
  3. Beautifully constructed, painted and weathered
  4. The distemper coat looks great
  5. I mixed some Winsor and newton sienna and umber and Abteilung 502 Brown and green with some white spirits
  6. Me too, it was the first model I made. Moulded from green and black soft plastic . It was arge scale snap together toy with an electric motor spinning the prop. The switch was cleverly disguised as the rear gun and the battery inside the bomb. It hung from the ceiling , prop spinner and diving.. very cool.
  7. I wondered about the woodgrain. I couldn't find any evidence that wood was used.
  8. A dose of nostalgia and hearing that the kit shape is very accurate inspired me to build this. Instead of trying to improve the level of detail, I will build it OOB with the pilots. I haven't put a pilot in since I was a kid. My first impressions are the fit is very good, I like the hardness of the plastic and that there are a lot of raised rivets!! There is plenty of soft moulding, especially the pilots, and not a lot of parts. I think it will look good on the shelf if I van put it together nicely and replicate the scheme. The scheme looks great although it's fictitious. There is no reference to its existence and is the creation of someone at Revell. The decals are in bad shape and I am inspired to cut a paint mask to replicate them. There is not a lot going on in here. Those poor pilots !!
  9. Although not a fan of Revell soft plastic, I like how this kit came together. I used montex masks and HGW seatbelts and some Resin and an instrument panel, Yahu I think, inside the cockpit. my first attempt at oil washes.Next time ill keep the clear off the canopy, at the time it didn't occur to me that the laquer would fog the clear parts. So much dust too, I think tissues and a cotton drop sheet will have to go.
  10. finally done. I really learnt a lot from this project. I do need to learn how to take better pictures of my work Although not perfect, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. .
  11. Glad to see you have started this one Max. Im following this closely for my future build. Maybe I'll have the confidence to start it this year.
  12. Haven’t posted an update for a while. Painting is pretty much done. Some touch ups required.
  13. Love it, it looks fantastic. Inspiring work.
  14. Yes, I damaged my needle and nozzle once and you're right, I ended up buying another airbrush. Even the O rings are outrageously priced. I'd be interested to hear how the two different airbrushes compare.
