themongoose
Ok everything is painted now i think! Decals and final assembly, then some satin and dull coat. I’m thinking of some satin across the top horizontal surfaces and dull coat on the sides and bottom. Hoping to give the impression of sunlight on it. Any thoughts or bad experiences from you guys in trying this? I sprayed some darker, dull aluminum style color, on some of the panels to break it up a, bit based on a pic one of the guys on SPA Modeler added for me. It gave a really good idea of how the paint faded. I’ve found a pic or two since then to help decide on the way to weather the different panels. It’s funny how the camera catches some of the black base coat under the silver. After looking at the pic and then the model i can see it but didn’t catch how that alters the tone until i looked back at the pics so i think this is good given it’s going in a museum I don’t want to overdo it. Time to celebrate Napalm for the centerline MER is ready Now Thursday I’ll work on cleaning up the ‘Tiger’ and by the end of the weekend I should be on to the base MikeMaben, Dandiego, Isar 30/07 and 14 others
themongoose
Today saw the transformation of Sylvester the cat to a TIGER! I am most happy with it from this distance… Which I think is perfect for how they’re gonna view it in the museum Up close not bad… I see a scratch there I’ll have to fix. The vallejo is a little sensitive till it’s clear coated. Easy repair tho since i can brush paint it out of the bottle. If they keep this quality up i’ll be going back to the pure acrylics. alain11, Landrotten Highlander, Dandiego and 8 others

themongoose
Well not alot going on here haha bet you could tell I’ve got all the decals on now and the canopy uncovered! Just some touchup to do on the tail decals and then i can add the wing tanks and ordinance. Started working on the 3D print for the rice paddies. Bit of a challenge dredging up some 6 year old skills. More on this later this month for sure. Going from the cardboard mock-up to foam and finally boight some wood today and started something serious hope to have enough time to finish all the framing sunday. themongoose
Lots of progress has been made I’m at a stopping point tho as i ran out of rice paddi lol more on the way. Here’s a preview of the scene, I’ve managed to bend a 7/8” piece of acrylic to hold the jet. Glad i got ot that big as withe resin on it in addition to it’s overall size the rod actually deflects almost 1/4” and here is the Red River and rice paddi layout so far… Enjoy the scenery i’ll be back in mid to late July with the final display JeepsGunsTanks, John1, TankBuster and 11 others

Once the pitot arrives will post her up in the RFI section Wish i looked at the kit pitot early on. Just not much saving that lump of plastic. going to have my son do some good photos for RFI. His setup is working out pretty good and he has a nice wide angle lense. LSP_Kevin, scvrobeson, Fanes and 12 others
